Um... okay. That happened.
5460127 Yes, it did. And it all would have been avoided had someone (Like say, Animak) was there to reel in Kamina's exuberant behavior.
well....Blitz is a Omnivore now....
good thing Kamina can heal...
i wonder if there is a way for her to cut of a piece of herself, then make it so that it regenerates back into however much was removed, so that Blitz and any other meat eaters had a semi infinite amount of meat?
5460467 Thought of that; can you IMAGINE the pain? Have you ever HAD a literal CHUNK of you torn off? It's not fun, one of the most painful things ever in fact. A broken bone is infinitely easier to stomach than a chunk of flesh stripped clean off.
Kamina is self-sacrificing, but she's not crazy.
5460704
ah, ok...
...well...what about using her blood, using the DNA, and growing the regenerating flesh from there (while being VERY careful to not make a sentient clone)?
i mean, while she COULD keep getting Anaconda meat, well...i'm sure it wouldnt be very nice for them to eat the same thing over and over again...
actually... if she can take in parts of other life forms, aren't there some species that have Autotomy?
if she can learn to do that, there should be no problem...
5460761 You're suggesting very dangerously into Prototype levels of genetic engineering, manipulation, duplication, and biomass control. Sorry, but somebody on this site already has an epic MLP/Prototype crossover that does exactly these sort of things, and I don't want to be considered a copycat. For reference, the stories are Oskar Osaker: True Omnivore, and it's sequel, Emerald Gleaner: Viral Unicorn.
Besides all that, Kamina isn't THAT smart, and neither is Animak. Brilliant battlemages, warriors, leaders, politicians and lovers they may be, but scientists they are not. Twilight could certainly do something like that, but she'd never put her loves through that much pain and suffering.
Besides; the Everfree is still full of wild and vicious predators that are nowhere near as civilized as the manticore population, the Everfree Giant Anaconda is just one example, and they primarily prey on Ursa, Dragons, and anything smaller than them. Let this also be an indicator of just how strong Blitz's new body is, as he ripped the throat out of a giant anaconda with a single bite.
5461008
ah...ok then....
fair enough, and thabsk for the fic names.
although i dont really see how Kamina gaining Autotomy powers is dangerous...
unless she causes the wrong thing to fall off....
5461023 Ponyville is gone, demolished. Half-eaten ponies lay scattered about, those who's faces are intact are filled with fear, and betrayal.
In the center of the devastation, sits a single, crying hippogriff, as numerous abominations linger around her, worried for her with false faces of her now-dead friends, lovers, family. A failed clone of Fluttershy dissolves from instability while another of Blitz bits a piece out of the copy of Spike that had just keeled over, like his fifteen predecesors.
"AH~!" Kamina jolts awake, crying, and sweating. She looks around to see her loved ones still sleeping deeply, and sighs in relief. "What the fuck was that about?" Kamina lays back down, and blinks before looking to Animak next to her. "...That was important...are you telling me something?" Kamina scooted to her brother, and hugged him as she snuggled, trying to pry comfort from her sibling, who instinctively hugged her back in his sleep.
It can only end in tears. If not done carefully.

umm... ok then... Autotomy is a bad idea than....
5461154 Let's just say, it isn't in the super-near future. Because they're still getting used to their powers.
5461193 Actually, there is a fungus in the natural world we deal with normally that can literally mind control its prey to help it spread. Granted, said fungus normally affects a tropical rain forest variety of soldier ant, but the point still stands.
5462361 I'm not getting into The Last of Us, even if I did use a song from it's OST for the chapter, quite ironically now that I think of it....
The point is; that I'm not going to let Kamina/Animak become that powerful, at least so soon. They can already Combine to become Gurren Lagann, and if enough people combine with them; they can also become Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. The one that fought Discordant was actually almost Arc-Gurren Lagann, and that was just with four people Combining.
I'm not saying autonomy won't happen, but I'm not a big fan of it. It will cause far more issues than they would solve, and I don't think Kamina or Animak could withstand having a massive hive-mind to try and rein it in.
5465800 Actually I was referring to a fungus that actually exists. It would have to mutate drastically to do The Last of Us any kind of credit. Mother Nature already has zombies, she just doesn't bother telling us.
5466566 The fungus in The Last of Us is based off that fungus, and whether you understand it or not; all it takes is a freak incident, or a madman, and the next thing you know; world's gone. The Last of US is more-or-less a drastic nightmare-fuel of the absolute worst-case-scenario involving if that spore becomes that adapted. Because look at Influenza. It afflicts nearly all mammals, and avians too, didn't used to.
Now, on to the actual subject matter: Kamina. She is an alpha-omega instance of evolution, able to adapt to nearly any environment or situation at the drop of a pin. All it would take is one instance of that sort of organic being going rogue to royally screw everything up.
...Stop making me consider this you scary people! I might do it!
5467171 But then you can make it a better story! You can make Animak and their friends force him back to the same lovable goof we already know, while enabling them to grow much closer to their loved ones.
5467445 Hm...meh...eh...ah...maybe. I've already got huge plans, I want to carry them out. I cannot deviate from my master plan, otherwise the story will lose direction, and we all know what happens when that happens.
5469042 The world breaks apart?
5470942 Nothing that drastic, no, I was referring to potential plot-death, and we don't want plot-death, it kills stories. I have to continue working towards an ultimate end goal, or that goal will be lost, and the story will consequently lose direction, and that leads to cancellation...*shudder* the C word...I despise it.
5471225 So the world breaks. Just in different words. Multiverse theory is really fun when you think of the possibilities that could be. Add in time as a differing factor and suddenly reality becomes so much more entertaining. Somewhere a version of you is filing a tax report, and another version of you is writing out that crossover. Infinite by infinite possible realities, each one slightly different from the last, and creating more realities every time a decision is made, now add up all the potential realities. Suddenly, nothing is scary, and the universe is expanding ever outward. Try and remain yourself in the sea of infinity.
5471243 Wisest f&$%ing words ever spoken. You are a d!#@ guru, a philosophical visionary.
We see the world the same way it seems.
I don't concern myself with what-ifs though, I consider what-is, what-was, what-will-be. I know, if there is a me filing taxes, he is miserable, if there is a me in the military, he's in despair, if there's a me who lost his parents, he's probably out on the streets as dumb muscle for some gang somewhere in Sacramento.
But no. Instead; I am here. Lonely, A little melancholic. Yet, content, and aware of the fact that in spite of my massive shortcomings; I'm happy.
I weave worlds with words, and my words are inspired by other worlds. Take a journey with me. To the endless possibility.
5471973 Which is why I am not understood by my family. I make sense of the connections. I can connect TTGL to MLP through the wheel of time series. The chess game of the gods group make sense to me. If I really wanted to push it, I could connect worlds with very different rules and laws on physics, chemistry, biology, xenology, arithmetic, and random chance. All I do is record what I see, make sense of the possible realities that could result. The universe is open, yet we limit our selves to what we can understand, for if we don't, we will lose what passes for sanity for our fragile minds, myself included. What breaks us though is our inability to comprehend that which falls outside our small limits.
5473204 Exactly. I too wish I could see other worlds directly, travel to them, get to know them. Discover how things are different, how they're the same. This is why Crossovers appeal to me so much, why I'm practically absorbed into them over normal genres.
For instance; I love trying to combine the concepts of the anime/manga (MANGA IS SUPERIOR!) Air Gear into nearly any other series/world, for Air Gear is mostly all about bullshitting in the face of physics, and making it work for you, all while being based on our own real-world physics.
Taking this into account, it brings limits, and limitation breaks that would normally not exist, all with a set of high-power nanotechnology roller blades. Awesome.
I just imagined the Mane Six as Storm Riders...FUDGE~! *starts smashing head into wall to get crossover concept out of head.* ONE SERIES AT A TIME DAMN IT!
That's gotta sting something fierce.
