Twilight's cartoon drawing of Dale and Lyra walking to the town hall
Dale's sketch of him and Twilight taking turns asking questions
Author's Note: As promised, have art. Lyra is mostly a tracing of Rainbow Dash with wings removed and horn added, while the Dale is drawn freehand. Sorry about the eraser marks, but it took nearly 45 minutes to get that first drawing right.
The stick-figure art is more my skill level.
nice touch using a more brown paper than a more modern white stock

That was the effect I was going for!
Actually, it is plain white paper, I just changed the white balance on my camera.
4106495 You're slacking, I mean normally I would expect you to go to the extreme... like getting actual parchment and using actual charcoal or a quill
Has there ever been a story where human immigrants to equestria get cutie marks? That seems like such a bridge that we don't have to the ponies when there.
4106522
I did use a Lyra brushable and poseable Dale for scaling purposes, so that ought to count for something, right?
4106523
I can think of some which involve ponification (The Past is the Future, for example). The only HiE I've read where it seems remotely plausible for a human to get a cutie mark is Diary of a Store Clerk, if Silver Blossom has one [or gets one].
Although we don't know for certain, ponies (and maybe Zebras) seem to be the only Equestrian species that get cutie marks, so maybe cutie marks are pony-only.
4106523
There actually is! In Lyra's Human 2: Derpy's Human, the main human character, Karyn Hubert, does actually get her own cutie mark. That's the only one I know, though.
4106599
Huh. That's on my read-later list.
4106597 You're one of the most hardcore of authors here for research, I can only mildly tease you whenever you only go to the regular "extreme" for accuracy sake.
Keep up the good work.
4106610
Sorry for the spoiler. It;s only a very minor plot point, though, so your knowledge of the story shall remain (mostly) untainted!

Yes I could certainly see Silver Blossom getting one -- I mean as young as she entered Equestria, that is her world more than Earth is. Diary is one of the HiE's that I do read. The whole idea of a person getting to Equestria and trying to be left alone is a good one, then there is the fact that his excuse of origin bit back at him.
I couldn't see Dale getting one unless they somehow managed to get his magic up to acceptable levels.
Magic infusion therapy....
4106495 Vice Admiral Biscuit: *Shifty eyes* Yes. I'm a genius.
Also, that second drawing. You're a better artist than me, for sure.
Now you get my like for this.
Twilight is surprisingly adorable as a stick figure.
Also, looking at the first picture, I can't help thinking that Twilight likes Dale's butt.
2nd picture: first, we assume a spherical
cowpony....P.S.

Corrections made, thank you!
Hah! I can just imagine Twilight sticking the tip of her tongue out the corner of her mouth in really deep concentration while drawing!
4106615 i agree right next to Killbles in looking up how much a giant robot would realistically weight

Kind of like this?
4121848
How big is the robot?
4149251 they are the pacific rim robots
The robot in specific was Cherno alpha. in the movie they say that it weighs 2,400 tons and is made of cold war tank armor. the wiki says it is 280 feet tall. "For reference, I'm using the listed weight from the Wiki and finding the density by dividing that by two thirds of the dimensions (So Height x Roughly 1/4H for breadth x roughly 1/8 for depth. This is approximate to human dimensions, no doubt some will not quite fit to this model.)" Killbles' density formula which calculates to Cherno Alpha being as dense as styrofoam at its listed weight

That's probably what I'd do if I had robots in this story.
I actually did a displacement experiment to determine how much a pony would weigh. It would take too long to go into all the details, but my user page has the blog post at the bottom, and the calculations are in the comments.

Amazing speech! Biscuit! Please use exectly those words for his speech

Dale's speech will probably be a little bit different, but when Apple Honey publishes it in the Ponyville Express, the grammar mistakes won't be hers, for once.
4570556 I've seen some real headscratchers on the front page of my paper too, and the other paper in town has editorials as their top stories most days.
Sigh.
4106523 There have been Ponies on Earth stories where humans on Earth actually end up with cutiemarks... Check out Merlos The Mad's My Little Marriage: Mary is a Mare / A Twilight Landing.

Thanks! I've never had the pleasure of diving, so it's good to hear that my extensive research paid off.
I have experienced hallucinations from sleep deprivation, so I did have something to build upon. I've hallucinated phantom semi-trucks before, back when I drove wrecker. Now that I'm older and wiser, I can say that the hours of service laws are a good idea.
Sea Swirl's at about the 200 foot mark. In theory, from what I gathered from my research, that's around the depth where hard hat diving goes from iffy to A Bad Idea. It's not close to the theoretical maximum (apparently 600 feet), but it's below what a normal recreational diver would attempt....
...Because of this. Of course, I have no idea if a horse would experience the same effects--as far as I know, nobody's attempted to send a horse down in a hard hat suit to see what would happen. The numbers she's using from the dive table are for a 60 meter dive.
Who wouldn't? In my research, the idea of descending to 200' seemed more and more crazy the more research I did. It's do-able, but from what I read, it's right on the borderline of lunacy.
Love the difference in drawing quality. Although Lyra's cutie mark location seems a little off to me.

It literally took me 45 minutes to draw that Lyra, and most of her was a tracing. I'm a terrible artist. It's kind of amazing that her cutie mark is even recognizable.
Uh, in-story, Twilight drew it more towards her barrel so that it would be bigger and more recognizable. That's totally what happened.
