Chapter 10: Become a Ranger

I reckon before I leave for the Enclave I should pay a supreme visit to the Steel Rangers I have another friend there… Shame we hardly get in touch especially before the bombs fell i`ve heard many immigrated there as a safe house from the Raiders, Calamity never leaving my side decided to come with me on this adventure.

In the iron safe room in Calamity`s house. After several visits to the past, good and bad i`ve decided to make my move and get all my quests done and return to my family I then spoke to Calamity

“Hey Calamity i`m going to the Steel Rangers Headquarters to find another friend” Calamity being excited for dangerous adventures and being a strange one

“Forgetting someone?” I turned my head round to face him

“I don`t believe so… what do you mean?” I asked Calamity the replied

“I`m coming I ain`t got anything better to do and I wanna try this thing out!” Shocked as I was with his decision I decided to let it slide and let him come

“Alright then… better get moving” Calamity picked up his `Wasteland Grinder` and I opened the rusting iron door with my horn and the light flashed again but this time mysterious voices were flashing through my head

“Applebloom” the voice said in a dark greiving tone,

“I believe someone loves you as well… hate to see that flash away…” Another voice flown passed me.

“Did I ever tell you?” A psychological voice then began to speak.

“The walrus loves to eat Alice said, Oh don`t worry Your mind is beginning to erupt it will be alright won`t it?”

“Take me into your heart. Accept me as your savior. Nail me to the fucking cross and let me be REBORN!”

He began to go crazy and my head was throbbing with pain Problem is he spoke more… and more…

“You are angry Full Moon. You, are angry. I get that. I get it. I mean without family who the fuck are we? There was a time I would do anything for my daughter, I mean the first time i ever killed was for my daughter. Not enough for her, no no no no no please. You see the thing about our loved ones, right, our FUCKING loved ones, they come and they BLINDSIDE you every fucking time. So they say to me, they say Linger, Linger, who the FUCK is it going to be? THEM or ME, ME or THEM?”

The psychopathic voice identifies him as some pony called Linger, and he has killed enough to become bloodthirsty, and crazy he was getting to me but i`m doing my best to survive but he continues on like a charging rhinoceros.

“The world is a diagonal... I am the balancing point” Linger then decided to laugh uncontrollably I managed to stumble outside with my head throbbing heavily from his voice Calamity followed on unaware of the hell Linger was putting me through Linger than decided to talk again

“We`ll talk again Full Moon for you see… I AM THE OVERSEER!” His voice ran straight through my head and I was close to fainting.

Me and Calamity left Friendship City I let Calamity lead since he knew the way to the Steel Rangers HQ I had to be careful since Calamity had a Gatling Laser and me… a little pistol… While travelling we came across this Raider encampment Calamity full of guts and no brains decided to charge in obliterating every Raider in sight a sniper was located on a hilltop and had his gun aimed at Calamity I had no choice but to hold my breath aim the cross hair at the Raider and pulled the trigger the bullet flew through air breaking the speed limit shot him… in the brains I saw the blood stream out of his head and his rifle off the hillside crashing among the various rocks and landed next too me. Despite I hated killing my own species I had no choice but too pick it up, I had some knowledge to guns it was bolt action similar to the Nagant and had a micro filed barrel and a wooden paint job although there was some dents on the rifle.

After scavenging from the Raider encampment med kits stimpaks and ammo we continued on with Calamity leading Strangely I heard Linger again several seconds after the Raider died.

“Killed someone have you? Nice huh?” I then heard his hooves as if they were clapping

“Well LOOK AT YOU! Feeling mighty proud huh? Well Fucking congratulations! I remember my first kill… his blood splattered among my face as I lowered my chainsaw…” He then snickered

“Humph I wish I drank some of that blood you know…” I lowered my face in disgust and horror I then decided to see if he could hear me

“What is wrong with you…” Linger heard me and then replied

“I`m you from the future… you find killing. Tasty…” Shocked at this reply I then retaliated

“You`re nothing like me… I don`t enjoy killing, You do” Linger laughed evilly

“Yeah right… now not later trust me Life is like apple pie when you reach the flavor and taste…” He then snickered again

“You`ll discover chainsaws as the knife and blood as the delicious vibrant, taste…” I then decided to question him once again “Why do you haunt me? Why?” Linger laughed then said

“Not haunting you… just reminding you” The voice stopped and I was once again confused and felt my brain thump in agonizing pain, it wore off a couple minutes later but… Linger continued to haunt my mind the psychopath must have been through hell… something about his daughter…

“Oh no Record Moon” I whispered in a worried tone.

Continuing on from the hell getting short answers from Linger… yet his replies still played through my mind

“Take me into your heart. Accept me as your savior. Nail me to the fucking cross and let me be REBORN!” Wants me to accept him as a `savior` what, what`s wrong with this pony. His blunt mind only believes in blood and death What made him this way? Why does he think he`s me from the future? There is no future…no electric cars no space rockets just sand… wrecked cars and structures with their deranged inhabitants lurking inside…it makes me laugh in disgust… how other species class Alicorns as a god how we are special… Pfft we never age, Hell when Record Moon approaches 60 i`ll still look 16! I`m going to fucking dread that And having to watch Vinyl… No I cannot think of that but I mean Just because we have immortality… special powers such as to have wings and a horn which lingers with powerful magic and infinite life force.

It pains me to think of this… if only I could have found a way to tell every pony…before the bombs fell what i`ts like being a creature embedded with these flaws… How dangerous it is to be one.

The path consisted of destroyed cars lying among the dirt canopying over carriage parts and multiple deceased skulls among the cliffs and the beaten road with scars of hoof prints slowly fading away on the dirt Calamity making his way decided to walk then do a jog Calamity than said

“Come on we`re close now” As soon as he said that the immense structure laid there, parts which were torn off a bridge laid as the walls rusty walls which made several vantage points dotted around the towers which included sentry MK VII turrets.

The entrance had several sandbags layered on top of each other and two unicorns with mini guns guarded the door they had power armor equipped similar to the one in New Appleloosa but with more modifications attached. One by the name of Grayson approached us.

“Who are you 10 seconds to state it”

“Celestia!” I replied in shock Grayson thought taking it as a answer

“Yeah right five seconds!” “Calamity than replied

“Look i`m a settler from Friendship City and the one in blue is Full Moon the son of Princess Luna” Grayson not amused replied

“Believable state your business!” I than took it from there and replied

“I have a friend here i`ve come to see him” Grayson still not feeling the part replied

“Who!” The name was a mystery in my mind but it soon came clear.

“Lightning Flare” I replied.

Silence was all I could have from Grayson it was all I got from him but after a couple of seconds he said quietly snapping form his trance

“Please… continue” Calamity with a surprised but relentless emotional face then ignored Grayson`s comment and then went through the entrance holstering his Gatling Laser meanwhile, as I was making my way inside Linger continued to haunt me

“Found your way in that brain tease eh? Last time I was in there I was shooting all the fucks with a mini gun assisted with the love of my life Rainbow Dash. Sounds familiar?” I had arrogance in my mind which made me reply

“Shut up” Linger automatically responded

“Oh what do we have here? Language my dear colt you are me of course. Oh yeah I forgot to tell ya about a secret I renamed myself Linger when I stumbled among the Grand Pegasus Enclave… and met Rainbow Dash” Anger proceeded my mind without caution

“Shut the buck up!” I commanded

“Get the hell out of my head” Linger then snickered once again

“Later gater i`ll talk to ya soon gotta see Rainbow after all” The comment angered me but I resisted to unleash it as I looked at my hoof to see that it was turning black I immediately took a deep breath and my coat returned to blue, A Ranger came up to me and then said

“Sir come with me the Elder wishes to speak with you” I replied

“Yeah ok”

Inside was technological advancement through the roof Computers hanging from the walls and a war map consisting of important places and bomb sites but eyeing off the tech a brown Pegasus crossed with black and yellow mane was working on the bench with steam punk goggles attached to his head hovering above the eyes I then took a risk and approached him

“Lightning Flare?” Lightning Flare than turned around and looked confused.

“Yeah what?” It seemed like he had no memory of me I then added

“I`ts me Full Moon! Your old pal don`t you remember” Lightning Flare took a quick sweep through his mind and then It came to him

“Oh Full Moon! Hows you?” It seemed like even though it was 25 years he acted like it was yesterday we last spoke.

Author's Note:

How is Linger?
Crazy guy i thought of when playing Far Cry 3, the quotes Vaas had was downright mental and i was inspired by this guy.
Seems worse then Vaas does he not? He has a major part in this story relax about that.
Had to change some parts of it though to make sense.

By the way Linger is in no way married to Rainbow Dash. He is just trying to exploit the anger in Full Moon.
