The three Duel Runners continued down the Duel Lane beneath the clouded sky.
“It’s my turn!” Akiza declared, drawing a card.

If I have two or more Speed Counters, I can Special Summon a Level 2 or below monster from my Graveyard! Come, Evil Thorn!”
A small plant with a thorn-covered bulb hung from its stem appeared next to Akiza.

The bulb expanded until it burst, flinging its thorns towards Crow.

Crow scoffed.
“Splendid Rose’s effect activates! Once per turn, I can banish a Plant-Type monster from my Graveyard to halve the ATK of one of your monster’s until the End Phase! I banish Evil Thorn to halve Black-Winged Dragon’s ATK!” Akiza’s new humanoid monster thrust its whip at Crow’s Black-Winged Dragon.

“With this, Black-Winged Dragon’s ATK is now lower than Splendid Rose,” Yusei commented.
“Battle! Splendid Rose, attack Black-Winged Dragon!” Akiza commanded. Her humanoid leapt into the air and lunged at Crow’s dragon.
“You won’t defeat my dragon so easily,” Crow countered.
“What?”
“I activate the Trap Card Feather Shift! When the opponent’s monster attacks, I can change the attack target to another DARK Winged Beast I control.” His Bora the Spear intercepted the blow from Splendid Rose.

“That’s too bad.”
“No way… I Set one card face-down and end my turn,” Akiza concluded.
“And now my dragon’s ATK is returned to normal,” Crow continued.

“Black-Winged Dragon! Attack Splendid Rose! Noble Stream!” A dark red blast of energy burst out of the dragon’s mouth, vanquishing Akiza’s monster.

The impact caused Akiza to spin out.
“Akiza!” Yusei exclaimed.
“Oh, no!” Twilight added.
Akiza regained control of her Runner and straightened out. “I’m fine…”
“I end my turn,” Crow concluded.
“Crow… what a Duelist he’s become since the WRGP… Am I strong enough to defeat him here?” Akiza thought. She then glanced at Yusei and Twilight. “Right… no matter what, I can’t give up. With everything that’s going on… I have to remind Crow who his friends are… because they need him!”
“My, my, Lieutenant Callos,” said a woman. “It seems everything is going according to plan.”
“Indeed, Judge Celena,” Callos replied. “The experiment is working perfectly. We even have the Signers at each others’ throats.”
“I wonder if they’ll ever catch on, though. The database was hacked by that Blister.”
“So what? It makes no difference now. Even if they figured out what we were doing, it’s already too late.”
“To think we’ve accomplished so much in Equestria in just a few days…” Celena smiled.
“Yes… the resistance there and here is diminishing very quickly… very soon, nothing will stand in our way,” Callos sneered.
“It’s my turn!” Akiza stated.

“Go for it, Akiza!” Yusei cheered. The three Signers felt another strong pulse in their right arms.
“I tune Level 1 Glow-Up Bulb with Level 6 Splendid Rose!” she continued.

“Chilling flames engulf the entire world. Pitch-dark flower, set into bloom! Synchro Summon! Appear now, Black Rose Dragon!”

The large dragon with rose-covered wings descended next to Akiza.
“Black Rose Dragon’s monster effect activates! When it’s Synchro Summoned, I can destroy every card on the field!” Her dragon roared as a powerful gust blew through the Duel Lane. “Go, Black Rose Gale!”
The three dragons present were all knocked aside by the wind as it destroyed them.
“They’re all gone…” Twilight commented.
“No, not quite,” Yusei replied.
“What?”
“At this moment, I activate the effect of Blue Rose Dragon!” Akiza continued. “When it’s destroyed, I can Special Summon a Plant-Type monster or Black Rose Dragon from my Graveyard! Return to the field, Black Rose Dragon!” Her rose-covered dragon appeared once more.
Black Rose Dragon

“Go, Black Rose Dragon! Attack Crow directly!” she commanded, as flames covered in rose petals shot from her dragon’s mouth towards Crow. “Black Rose Flare!”
An explosion took place.
“Please… let that be enough…” Akiza hoped, watching Crow emerge from the smoke.

“Is that all?” he asked.
“He still wants to fight…?” Akiza wondered. “I… end my turn…”
Twilight watched in awe as the unrelenting Crow stared them down. It just wasn’t right. Why is he going so far to ensure her capture when he’s their friend? The way he suddenly turned on them, along with all the other information she and Yusei discovered together… none of the pieces seemed to fit. Then there was the ominous feeling inside her that began to grow, telling her that something else was going to happen.
“It’s my turn!” Crow declared.

“I’m now past the safety line… if he has a Speed Spell…” Akiza thought.
“I Summon Dark Wing Galee!” Crow stated. A dark-feathered eagle appeared next to him.

“Another ‘Dark Wing’ monster…” Yusei mumbled.
“When this monster is Normal Summoned, I can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower DARK Winged Beast from my Deck! I Special Summon the Tuner Monster Disharmony Feathers!”

“What?!” Twilight exclaimed.
“‘Disharmony’?!” Yusei added.
“And it’s a Tuner?!” Akiza reacted.
“Next, from my Graveyard, I activate the Trap Card Feather Rise!” Crow continued.
“From his Graveyard…?”
“By banishing it from my Graveyard, I can use its effect! I Tribute Dark Wing Galee… to revive my Black-Winged Dragon!”

ATK: 2800 – 2800 = 0
“However, the monster Summoned by this effect has its ATK become 0… and half its original ATK is added to the opponent’s Life Points.”

“Giving me Life Points…?” Akiza said.
“It’s not going to matter. I tune Level 1 Disharmony Feathers with Level 8 Black-Winged Dragon!” Crow stated.
“What?!” Akiza reacted.
“Even using Black-Winged Dragon?” Yusei added.
The small bird transformed into a black ring that surrounded Crow’s dragon, the latter became eight bright stars before they were engulfed by a black pillar as Crow began to chant.

“Let the limitless chaos pour into your soul as you soar through the dark skies! Synchro Summon! Appear now, Disharmony – Dark Wing Serpent!”

A large serpent-like creature floated in the sky.
“What is this monster?” Yusei asked. “And… why does Crow have it?”
“Dark Wing Serpent… attack Black Rose Dragon!” Crow commanded. A burst of darkness shot from the serpent’s mouth towards Akiza’s dragon. “At this moment, Dark Wing Serpent’s effect activates. When it battles a monster, the opponent’s monster’s ATK is decreased by 1000!”
“What’d you say?!” Akiza exclaimed.
Black Rose Dragon
LV: 7
ATK: 2400 – 1000 = 1400
The dark blast obliterated the Black Rose Dragon and smothered Akiza.
“Akiza!” Twilight shouted.
3300 – 1400 = 1900

Yusei brought his Duel Runner to a halt. He turned towards Akiza as the darkness vanished. Her Runner was on its side and she lay on the ground, with Crow parked on the other side of her. The Dark Wing Serpent had already vanished.
Raising his own Runner’s armpiece, he hopped onto the Duel Lane and sprinted to her, only to be a stopped by another darkness that appeared beneath Akiza and her Runner.
“What is this?” he asked. “Akiza!”
“Yusei…” Akiza groaned as she rose to her knees. She then suddenly felt something pull her to the ground. “Help me…”
“No… not again!” Images of his friends, Leo and Luna… the nightmare… flashed in his mind. “Not again!”
Twilight lifted herself off Yusei’s Runner and into the air to approach Akiza. A large wall of darkness blocked them both.
“Crow! Do something!” Yusei demanded.
Crow remained silent.
“CROW!”
Akiza shrieked as she was pulled into the blackness. Her body and her Runner vanished as the darkness faded away.
Yusei fell to his knees, tears rolling down his cheeks. He banged his fist on the pavement “Akiza… not you, too…”
Twilight landed softly behind him. “That darkness… it was so… familiar…” She gasped after searching her memory.
Twilight was knocked aside once more. As she struggled to get up, she found herself bound to the dirt by ropy-like shadows. The ground beneath her turned black.
“Let me go!” Twilight demanded, recovering from the attacks.
“You’re certainly something, Princess,” the woman said. “The others weren’t able to put up nearly as much of a fight as you have… although… I suppose that’s to be expected of the one who wields the strongest of all the Elements of Harmony.”
“What are you doing…?” Twilight felt herself growing weaker and more restrained as she saw the shadows begin to blanket her.
“Taking you home. At first, I thought we had to collect the real you… but with this power that I have obtained… taking you here will also bring the real you to us… thanks to the magical ties between you, your Element, and…” The figure glanced behind her.
“The real me…? What do you mean by that? And what power are you talking about? I’ve never felt anything like this… I think…” Now that she thought about it, the essence of this darkness that was being used to capture her had a faint sense of familiarity to it, although she couldn’t put her hoof on why. She then noticed another presence approaching from the direction the woman was staring.
“It’s the same…” Twilight mumbled. “Does that mean that she… and that… thing… are around, too…?”
“Crow…” Yusei’s head hung. “Why didn’t you help her…?”
Crow was silent.
“Answer me! Why?!”
“She was in the way. It’s my job to bring you both down.”
“‘In the way’…?” Yusei looked up at Crow. “She’s our friend! Why would you—” Something about Crow had caught Yusei’s attention. He couldn’t help but notice Crow’s eyes. The blank expression alone was more than enough, but now there was something else to it.
“Yusei…?” Twilight called to him as he rose to his feet, clenching his fist. “I’m… so sorry about—”
“Twilight…” he replied, slowly boarding his Runner. “Get on.”
“Oh! Okay… is everything all right?” Twilight sat behind Yusei, sharing his seat on the Duel Runner as he started it up again after lowering the armpiece.
“Whatever is afflicting Crow… I’m going to put a stop to it here,” Yusei said.
“‘Afflicting’…?”
Crow pressed a button on his Duel Runner’s monitor.
“OVERRIDING SUSPECT DUEL RUNNER. DUEL MODE ENGAGED,” said a computer voice. The Speed World 2 Field Spell appeared on their screens as both drew five cards from their Decks.

“I’ll go first!” Yusei declared, drawing a card. “I’ll Set a monster and end my turn!”
“What’s wrong with him?” Twilight wondered. “I’ve never seen him like this before…”
“My turn!” Crow stated.

“Due to Bora’s effect, when it attacks a monster in Defense Position, piercing damage is inflicted!” Crow countered, his winged creature striking the small dragon with its spear.

“Next, Kochi the Daybreak attacks!” Crow’s small feathered beast rammed into the dragon, destroying it. “Now I tune Level 4 Kochi the Daybreak with Level 4 Bora the Spear!”

“Again?!” Twilight exclaimed.
“Just a little more…” Crow mumbled. “I Set one card face-down and end my turn!”
“Crow…” Yusei said. “No matter what… I will break through! It’s my turn!”

“Crow!” Yusei stated. “I don’t know what’s gotten hold of you… but it ends here!”
