I Am Octavia

Bitterness

After spending the night sleeping in an alley on some old newspapers, Vinyl was sore and cranky. Nevertheless, she kept her cool as she called Octavia.

"Hello? Octavia speaking."
"Octy, it's Vinyl."
"Vinyl? Oh yes, my so-called best friend who always stood me up and stayed out late. How are you?"
"Why'd you lock me out?"
"It was one-thirty, Vinyl. That's ridiculous, even for you."
"Octy, what are you talking about? And why are you being so mean?"
"I don't want to be friends anymore, Vinyl."
"What?"
"I'm sick of your excuses and empty promises. I can't take it anymore. You've let me down too many times."
"But, Octy, wait-"
"I'm leaving town for a few weeks. I'll leave a key under the doormat. When I get back, I want everything of yours to be gone."
"But-"
"You. Gone. I never want to see you again." Octavia abruptly hung up.
Vinyl was left staring at a black screen. "Hold on...wait a second...please..."
