Two-Wicked Candle · 8:34pm February 20th

Its been in progress for a very long time, as I've mentioned before, but the more I push on with new chapters, the more unacceptable the initial chapters become. I got lost in the sauce of the latest chapter, bringing back an old friend (and the complications of planned then rescinded design changes), but I really need to focus back on the original chapter rewrites. You might think this is perfectionism at play, but if you look back on the initial chapters now... they are simply badly written,

Writers Block Over (maybe) · 2:16am Jul 27th, 2023

As explained in my last blog entry, I hit a wall after writing an entire chapter that took the sisters' journey in the wrong direction. Since then, I have been stuck on how to reconcile this error; do I rewrite the entire chapter I was proud of, or compromise my greater vision of the story?

TToTS Ch.22: When Disaster Strikes · 12:35pm May 28th, 2023

Oh boy. So, some time ago (sadly not dated because I didn't finish it) I decided to write Tirek/Scorpan's backstory, waiting for a point to insert it. I decided that Chapter 22 was a good a time as any, placing it as a filler while the sisters passed through the Lowlands Forest. Before continuing the (let's call it Tau) backstory, I wanted to keep the momentum of the real journey flowing, so I began writing Chapter 23. Returning to work on these chapters a bit later, I decided that the Tau

Realism is a Thing · 1:18am Feb 6th, 2023

Okay, so I may have been overly optimistic about my "five chapters in three months" goal in the last post. It came from a place of honesty, based on the progress I had made in one day and my eagerness, but not accounting for the long down times between writing sessions. Rewriting the initial chapters of TToTS is a *HUGE* undertaking, with the Prologue already clocking in at 8,700 words--twice the original--with this being the... third rewrite attempt? So while that is more of a long-term goal

Paying Dues / Year of the Release · 6:31pm Jan 2nd, 2023

So, as you may have noticed with the release of the verbose 11k Chapter 19 of TToTS, I have returned to writing for now. Later today I will be releasing Chapter 20, which will bring me up-to-date with everything I had pre-written so far. (Edit: At least for TToTS; FotV is still outstanding)

Year of the Rewrite · 5:24am Jan 9th, 2022

Following the release of Chapter 18 Part 2 of TToTS, I think it is time to focus on making the gateway to the story something I can feel proud of. I am genuinely ashamed of the initial chapters compared to the newer ones, and actively avoid sharing its existence with new readers because of it. I know there is no such thing as the perfect story, but I believe my understanding of writing and the effort I'm willing to put into it has come a long way since 2018.

November POV · 3:44am Nov 24th, 2021

So, someone might be wondering why I uploaded the last chapter of The Tale of Two Sisters as "part one", which is not something I've done before. This was because not only was it a long chapter that was taking a long time to proofread, but I have now run into the problem of time-travel details. I was about to define the exact length of time the sisters had spent in stone, when the only person I know who reads my story pointed out how confusing the two time skips were. I

Two Sisters: Chapter 1 Rewrite Coming! · 5:26am Jan 25th, 2020

Edit: Rewrite now live!

Fillies and Gentlecolts, I am happy to announce that the Chapter One rewrite will soon be completed, not only doubling the wordcount, but adding a lot more depth to the inciting events of the story. In fact, the chapter has changed so much--namely in the removal of the older sisters framing device--that it is being renamed from "A Story Two-thousand Years in the Making" to "A Wizard's Duty"!

Tale of Two Sisters gets a new prologue! · 8:35pm Dec 21st, 2019

Fillies and Gentlecolts, it is with great pleasure that today I announce the release of a brand new chapter to the Tale of Two Sisters story. As previously announced, I had intended to rewrite the first chapter for some time, and while that is still the case, what I started writing became so much more that it was deserving of its own chapter.

TToTS: Chapter Two Heavily Updated · 10:47pm Jun 9th, 2018

I have just released a major update to Chapter Two of The Tale of Two Sisters. I wouldn't announce a typical change, but this has been a significant addition. To aid the flow of the story and create a more fulfilling arc per-chapter, I have divided a significant portion of the unreleased Chapter Three to append Chapter Two with over 1,300 words, making the chapter over a third longer. I am sincerely hoping that people who have already read Chapter Two will not overlook this addition, as you
