Dusting off the cobwebs here. It's been a while, hasn't it? I've been writing original fiction most of this time--that, and going to graduate school. Even as we speak I'm working on a fantasy novel, which is the second in a series I've been writing.

I realize I've been terribly quiet for some time now, and that the 'sequel short story' I was writing for Besides the Will of Evil never really materialized. For anyone who was anticipating it, I very much apologize.
It occurs to me that one of the things Ardo Roccolato has been missing is a map--a way to locate the various countries of my world in their relations to each other. Does anyone know of any good fandom mapmakers? I'm willing to commission someone. I'd just like a visual depiction of the various lands I've written about--Equestria, Gildedale, the Crystal Empire, the Shimmerwood, Issidonia, Carcosa--laid out in a map's depiction. There are a few announcements to make. First of all, I'm ecstatic to announce that It's a Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door has surpassed 6,000 unique views! It means so much to me that so many people continue to read and enjoy this story, particularly since it's so old and was read so many times before I put it up on FIMFiction. Thank you, to everyone, for your patronage.
After giving it some thought, I've decided that I'd prefer my world known first and foremost as Arda Roccotálato, rather than Roccotálarda. The former isn't really that much more cumbersome than the latter, and I like the word "Arda" standing by itself. However, anyone who wishes to write the world's name down is free to use either one, as she or he chooses.
Hello, everyone! I hope you're doing well. I'm glad to see that so many of you have been enjoying my work lately, and I hope you will continue to enjoy it as I move forward. So then, you may ask, what's next?
I like to name things. To quote Books of Magic, names have power. That's an old sentiment, going as far back as the days of the Egyptian pharaohs, when things and people were believed to have a special 'true name' that allowed a sorcerer to exert magical control over them. More practically, to name a thing is to define it. Giving something a name allows it to exist more concretely, allows us more clearly to see what it is- and what it is not.
I am very proud, very delighted, to announce that Besides the Will of Evil is complete!
The first chapter was posted on April 15, 2014. The 50th and final chapter has been posted on August 6, 2015- so that would be a little less than sixteen months between start and finish. I am sorry it took so long. I hope you are satisfied with the end result.

There probably won't be a new chapter of Besides the Will of Evil next week, and there may not be a new one the week after, either. I can assure you, however, that this is for a very good reason.
It was brought to my attention a few weeks ago that some of my readers may be having problems with the formatting of my stories. I wanted to briefly survey the audience and see how everyone's holding up.
It's a Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door, Besides the Will of Evil, and the universe they explore- the variation on the world of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic- are not, of course, just based on the show. They are also based on my influences as a writer, a storyteller, and a dreamer. The influence of J.R.R. Tolkien is the most obvious one, followed perhaps by Gene Wolfe, then Herman Melville, and most recently, Rudyard Kipling. Like any writer, I draw strength
While I've not yet had time to see it, apparently today's episode was pretty cool, and did a substantial amount of worldbuilding involving griffins. It even had Gilda, by all accounts.

As you all may have noticed, it's been a bit since Besides the Will of Evil updated. Ever since clearing out my backlog of short stories I wanted to write, I had committed myself to working on both BTWOE and my original novel side-by-side, one chapter of one work being followed by one chapter of the other work.
I am a writer, both of fanfics and of less amusing works. I constantly strive to assess and reassess my work, attempting as best I can to achieve perfection, impossible a goal as that may be. Thus, I sometimes find myself revisiting an earlier conclusion I have drawn, and when I do, I find that I have cause to reconsider it.
I'm so, so happy with the way all you readers have embraced Besides the Will of Evil. It's really become very enjoyable for me to write. It will especially become enjoyable over the next few weeks and months, because in the aftermath of the Battle of Manehattan, the story starts to build tremendously. We're about to delve into some of the most amazing scenes and chapters in the entire fic. I hope you're ready.
Whoa, hey, it's been a while, hasn't it? Or maybe it's only been a month? Still, that's a long time, at least in this age.
I've been caught up in the rush and motion of a number of things, from trying to find a job to trying to get something of mine published to making new friends and all sorts of stuff. Writer-wise, I've been caught up in working on a series of short stories that sort of got away from me- they're not Pony-related, and they totally consumed my time and my art.
I have always believed, as a writer, that fellow writers of good quality are to be celebrated. In writing and authorship, a rising tide lifts all boats, and works of quality deserve to have attention called to them.
In that spirit, I'd like to steer everyone following me toward a new story I've just recently discovered:
One of the things I'm finding out in writing Besides the Will of Evil is that it's much harder to write for seven main characters than it is to write for three. With It's a Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door, I only really had to worry about half of the Mane Six; those of you who recall the story will remember that Twilight, Pinkie, and Fluttershy were barely heard from over the course of the adventure.
