It's one of those romantic comedy animes. No dub.
It's one of those romantic comedy animes. No dub.
Haha, and - spoiler alert - did it at the end quite her way, not way some good friends of friends wanted it. So, nice end for the series. Thing is, in real world things not as easy as just overcoming some personal psychological problem (of me) ... Humans still want to build their much more dolphinarium-like 'sanctuary/rehabilitation centres' without giving any damn about what dolphins (and co) actually feel, and how it all will affect them ('cetaceans are more emotional than humans' can

8 PM - Cartoon Carnival (2021)(Documentary.)
9:45 PM - 100th Anniversary of Fleischer Animation – Part 1: The Silent Era (2021).
10:45 PM - 100th Anniversary of Fleischer Animation – Part 2: The Sound Era (2021).
Animation isn't a genre. It's an art medium that one can tell any story with. It annoys the hell out of me that execs/boomers think that animation is automatically catered towards kids. And for them to also think that animation should have typical themes like sex, drugs, and violence for it to cater towards adults is ridiculous AF.
I am sorry about this blog, but anime as in japanese cartoons made in japan are under attack by western moral puritans, because it doesn't adhere to their moral standards. This strikes me as a very imperialistic mindset, not everyone has to adhere to our values.
Heyo, the quarter century mark! And I've been at this nearly a year. Why!? Oh, right, anime's actually pretty good (except when it isn't). Featured items, after the break, are a roundup of Cartoon Saloon's movies, Song of the Sea, The Secret of Kells, and Wolfwalkers. They're not really anime, but I don't care, and you can't make me. And as a side note, thanks to one Paul Asaran, I keep having the theme song to Kujibiki Unbalance run through my head. It's a stupid
My to-watch list keeps growing, but it's heavy with slice of life series at the moment. I usually like to watch 2 or 3 series of different genres at a time, but I might have to double up on the SoL just to even things out more. Not to mention all the things currently airing on Toonami or that I'm waiting for them to get new seasons of. (I say this as I'm halfway paying attention to a recap episode of Black Clover, which has become thoroughly average after they ruined the arc of the
Land o' Goshen! On time this week! And freshly back from some literature wins at the county fair! (Though the number of entries was way down from usual this year.)
By chance, this week will knock out all the rest of the Satoshi Kon things I've seen, but there are more I still intend to watch. Featured items are Only Yesterday and Paranoia Agent, after the break.
Last week would have been my normal time to post, but I forgot about it all evening, then same Wednesday and Thursday, so, eh, I just pushed it to this week. The usual quick hits of various things, but the featured items today are Dead Leaves and Dimension W, after the break
Finally (almost) recovered from my business trip that I stretched into a vacation, but I'm still suffering jet lag two days later. Oh well, the Labor Day holiday is coming up, so I'll sleep then. Featured items this time are Michiko & Hatchin and Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, plus the usual shorter reviews of other things in this neighborhood of the alphabet, after the break.
Tuesday is probably the most convenient day for me to do these, so I'll slide into that schedule starting now. My intent was to start at the top of my alphabetized "finished" tab, but as I look down it, the first two things to discuss on it are both movies, and the first two of these blogs were also about movies, so I'm going to skip them for now and come back to them next time. A couple of series, after the break.
Switching up the title a bit so it's more obvious what actually happens in these blogs. As I noted last time, I'm going to come back to a couple of movies in this edition, plus some quick-hit reviews of the rest as I start at the top of the alphabet. Featured movies are A Silent Voice and A Whisker Away, after the break.
Yay for a couple of movies giving me a quick infusion of additional things to review! Featured items this time are a series from just a couple of years ago, Darwin's Game, and another from a decade ago that had a lot of big names involved, Kids on the Slope, plus four other good to not good things, after the break.
Had the opposite problem this time: plenty of other stuff but holding out for a second thing I wanted to feature. And the featured items are Akebi's Sailor Uniform and Takt Op. Destiny, plus the usual extras, including one that just finished a few days ago, after the break.
Looking forward to reviewing this season's crop in another month or two, but for this week, featured items are a series from a while back, Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun, and a movie from two years ago, Sing a Bit of Harmony, plus five others of varying goodness after the break. The new shows this season have been a mixed bag. Heavenly Delusion was my early front-runner for favorite, but it's gotten off track, and a wonderful installment of Insomniacs After School
Back to having the good problem of really liking so much stuff I've seen lately that I'm overflowing with feature reviews and don't have enough else to fill out a blogpost. But I finally got 4! Features are a series from 2010, Angel Beats!, and another from just a couple of years ago, Wave, Listen to Me! Everything is exclamation points! Those and more after the break!
Still pleasantly surprised by most of the winter shows I opted to watch (but I'm gonna die waiting on the dub of The Dangers in My Heart). But hey, there are plenty of good shows from past seasons! To wit, features are both from 2018, a random comedy series, Asobi Asobase, and a drama movie whose title sounds nothing like that's what it will be, I Want to Eat Your Pancreas. Plus several more pretty good things and a few more YT shorts, after the break.
