I've gone on record saying that Josh Haber has not been my favorite writer this season. The only thing I got out of Castle Mane-ia is that Rarity apparently thinks castles are sentient, and Simple Ways was just too easy to riff on, making me think that the episode was worse than it actually was. Sadly, these problems have not seemed to alleviate themselves in this episode.
Everypony remembers Power Ponies for its fun premise, its campy action, its awesome villain, and its crowd-pleasing comedy.
However it was also the very first Spike episode where the central conflict didn't revolve around him being, well...a jerk.

Yep, it's another headcanon that I can't write a story about. This time, it's because it's a bit of a nebulous concept that doesn't really need a story. You'll see what I mean in a bit.

Flight to the Finish is something of a mixed bag; it is an episode that made me smile, but simultaneously left me feeling dissatisfied; it should have been more than it was.

Power Ponies was an excuse for... another superhero episode, far sillier than The Mysterious Mare Do Well. Sadly, it failed at it pretty badly, and managed to make itself bland rather than memorable.
If you were to say, "there's an episode of My Little Pony where one of the Mane Six has difficulty accepting the fact that she came in second place," you would almost certainly guess that it was all about Rainbow Dash. One of the most universally beloved stories in the entire series, however, takes this premise, and applies it to Pinkie Pie.
Wow. That was quite the season. I have a lot of overall thoughts to say, but since this is a season I haven't talked about before, I'm gonna save them for after the episode thoughts to maintain suspense. Episode thoughts are in the same format as the Season 3 ones, except I'm gonna be talking about every episode instead of just the ones I want to cover, cause I wanted to cover most of them anyways.

I can't believe this! Scott Sonnerborn has written two episodes for the show, and both of them utilize creatures that I have used in my own stories! Has this guy been reading my fics, or is he just a big mythology buff like I am? I know it's probably the latter, but still, this is (as the title of this blog would suggest) uncanny!
