    Season 9 Retrospective

Warning: Season-wide spoilers abound. Proceed with caution.

I need to write this while the emotions of the finale are still fresh in my mind. Though the stories will continue in the comics (and countless fanfics, I'm sure), this is truly the end of an animation era. So, as a final season, did it go out with a bang, or a whimper? Follow me below the break to see my take.

Random Thoughts: The Beginning of the End

Warning: Spoilers abound. Proceed with caution.

Mama pajama, that was a rush. I really feel like something was rekindled here. Season 8 was alright, but I will admit it didn't have the same energy that made me fall in love with this show. This episode, however, had that energy in spades. Follow me below the break as I just gush a bit on what an epic season opener this was.

    Season 8 Retrospective

Welp, that was fun, huh? I know for most of you, the season ended earlier thanks to the Australian broadcast, but I didn't have the luxury of checking that out. Also, I'd rather do things by the book.

    Random Thoughts: The Washouts

Warning: Spoilers abound. Proceed with caution.

Let me just start off by saying great googily moogily, what a weekend this was! I thought Season 7 had scheduling problems, but this was just insane! Well, at least it's still trackable. Unlike some other shows I can mention *cough*TheLoudHouse*cough*.

Headcanon Corner: Rock Farm Location · 11:02am Mar 16th, 2014

Warning: Minor spoilers from the latest episode, Maud Pie, abound. Proceed with caution.

Yep, it's another headcanon that I can't write a story about. This time, it's because it's a bit of a nebulous concept that doesn't really need a story. You'll see what I mean in a bit.

If you'll recall the episode The Cutie Mark Chronicles, you'll remember that Pinkie Pie mentioned that the rock farm where she grew up was on the outskirts of Ponyville. And yet in this episode, ponies need to take a train to get there (unless you're the Mane 6, in which case you can just teleport or something). So, what's the deal? Did Pinkie get that part of her story wrong?

Actually, no. The truth is very simple if you're familiar with the Metro North Railroad. If you aren't, the theory's still easy to grasp once I explain it. So, here's my headcanon: The distance between Ponyville and the Pie Rock Farm is the same distance between Grand Central Station and Harlem-125th Street. Technically, both locations are in the same general area. But if you want to travel from one place to the other, it's much easier to take the train.

Or you could just teleport randomly. Seriously, I don't get how Twilight and her friends got to the rock farm ahead of Pinkie and Maud. Did Twi perfect a new spell or something? Ah, whatever. It's just a nitpick in an otherwise solid episode.

Contrary to popular fandom belief Twilight is not incompetent, she can pull off her spells successfully.

And I really need to watch the "Cutie Mark Chronicles" again, I've placed the Rock Farm on the other side of Eqiestria from Ponyville

Distances are relative for Pinkie

It's in Salt Lick City.

1930639 Um, where did you come across this information? I never even heard that city's name mentioned in canon before. Is it part of the chapter book where Pinkie's family was officially named? :rainbowhuh:

Maybe Equestria is expanding and now they need trains to go to places they could reach before on foot.

I've seen weirder things happening in this show.
