What our Voice Chat is for

Greetings, my name is Cosmic Afro and I’m here to bring you a Voice Chat server! We hope that you’ll enjoy talking with other authors in real time and making good friends as well as tossing around ideas. If you don’t have a microphone, text chat is a viable thing to do and man users have done it in the past. First, let me introduce what this server is for. From the channels top-down:

Channel Rules/Guidelines: This channel is for the rules, which will link back to this thread, and channel uses. If you’re unsure about something, please visit this thread again or send me or Delta a Pm.

Admin Channel: For when Admins are either AFK or talking amongst each other. Please poke an Admin if you need any assistance. (Right click on a person’s name in TeamSpeak to poke).

General Chat: General Chat is exactly what you think it is. This channel in the server is for everyone to talk about whatever and have a good time. We suspect that many conversations will move into the Collab. Or Gaming channel, or maybe they won’t, who knows!
Shipping Discussion: If the general conversation moves towards shipping, please move there so that others who many not want to discuss it may continue with something else.
Role Play: For, you know, if you wanna Roleplay.

General Chat 2: If there are too many people in General Chat and you can’t seem to get a word in edgewise, consider moving to this channel. Chances are, there are others who want to speak but cannot as well.

Away from Keyboard (AFK): Unexpected visitors, phone calls, or random ninjas in your bathtub? You may need to go AFK for a bit. Please be sure to mute your microphone and speakers when you enter here as an extra precaution. This channel is for those moments when you gotta go, but you’ll be back.

Currently Writing: This channel is for when you’ve been inspired either from or without the chat and you’re writing. Do not disturb those in Currently Writing unless it is absolutely necessary!

Not Safe for Cosmic (NSFW): Talking about clop, porn, or other things your boss would frown at you for? Move here. This channel is for that specific reason. If conversation is caught outside of this channel that is NSFW, you will be penalized.

Private Chats: You can use this channel to have a private conversation with others and those found barging in to ruin these conversations will be removed from the server. Use this if you’d like to speak with someone but don’t want to give away Skype information or otherwise. Each spot is limited to three people at the most.

Collaboration Channel: The Collaboration Channel is for getting together with a small group of authors and talk about an idea you want to express through writing or other forms of media. The main channel acts as a “looking for people to contribute with” while the spots are for actual contribution chatter. Please do not interrupt others by joining a collaboration spot uninvited.

Gaming: The Gaming channel is for authors to take a break and game with others without having to worry about adding each other on Skype or moving to another voice service. We have one right here, you don’t even have to leave. There are five spots open currently with the actual channel serving as a LFG function and the actual spots for gaming. As is with the Collaboration channel, please do not walk into a game session uninvited.

More channels will be added in the future. Read more in Section 3 for more information.

Section 2

Rules/ please don’t be a jerk

Let’s get the most important thing out of the way. Rules:
1) Be courteous in all chats. You will have one warning if users find your behavior to be too disruptive. Any continuation of repeat behavior will warrant an immediate ban from the voice chat.
2) Follow all TWG and Fimfiction rules (such as NSFW images (Unless in the NSFW channel) and malicious website embedding as well as spam and other annoying things we don’t want).
3) Think there needs to be a channel type that we don’t have? Please, PM an Admin on Fimfiction and we’ll see what we can do.
4) Most everything else is common sense.

Now then, let’s address the elephant in the room. I know, and worry, that people will abuse this eventually. It’s inevitable, enticing, like a golden opportunity apple just ripe for the picking. This isn’t Call of Halo: Modern Black Ops (or whatever those games are), there should be no reason for shenanigans that upsets other users. This is a free service we’re offering you to get together with others and make friends or hang out, why would you want to ruin that? We do have a contingency plan just in case this happens, but we really do not want to have to restrict this service.

I can’t even fathom why anyone would want to do this.

Section 3

Other groups will get their own channels

The goal of the Voice Chat for TWG is to eventually allow all of Fimfiction to use this, so naturally we’re going to want other groups who are willing to participate frequently to join in and manage their own channels on our server and offer some sort of useful thing. Whether this is Looking for Editors, help chat assist/support, certain topics, or something I can’t think of at the moment, we want users to be able to join and be able to make the most out of the service.

Please PM meif you’re interested in doing this and we’ll set you up right quick.

Section 4

Contingency Plan

Should everything go to the crapper and people are spamming the chat left and right and making it unenjoyable, restrictions on how long a person has been a member of TWG will be applied along with closing the group chat when no moderator is online. Other groups who join in on the Voice Server should moderate their members accordingly should it ever come to this. The limit has yet to be decided and will be discussed with all Admins if it ever comes to this.

Section 5

Donation Pool

Simply put, if the chat becomes too big, maybe over ~100 members, we may open a donation pool so members can help keep us going. We’re willing to pay for it, but anything others could offer if this opens would be super appreciated.

Huge thanks to everyone who came in during testing, especially Distrance who I couldn't have done it without.

We'll hear from you soon

A lot of users used Text as a way to communicate before. In fact, I used text most of the time because of my environment being too loud. It's a viable option and I encourage you to join!

2904048 Huh, I didn't know teamspeak lets you do that. In that case, I'll be downloading the program in a minute

I believe it is "Hell, to the yeah" as quoted by Shakespear's "King of Trellaire".

"What happeneth, my brother?"
"I hath a cold shower past mine integral relationship with mine spouse."
"Hell to the yes, my fine friend."

2904048 Honestly, it's just too much hassle to access this stuff to even bother.
