We’ve all seen the end of Season 5, where Twilight gets a glimpse at various Alternate timelines. One of those stands out, though, as it almost definitely spilt from the main timeline at the very beginning of the series. Now, the fate of Princess Celestia is fairly well known among the fandom, but what of Cadance? Do you think she was captured by Nightmare Moon and corrupted as well? Held in a dungeon? Escaped to lead a resistance? Would she even matter in a Nightmare scenario?

A few fanfics have her become an unwilling soldier for Nightmare Moon, locked in a dungeon and "reprogramed" to think the right way and serve her faithfully, while some have her as a hopeful leader of a small resistance. Personally, I've always favored the idea of her being a resistance leader who uses everything to her advantage, working from the shadows to dismantle the empire Nightmare Moon has built while slowly gaining more allies each "day". Or whatever constitutes a day in their world.

I also always think of this scenario when I hear this song. "And we haven't seen the sun for a while."

When it comes to Cadence in that scenario, I never really thought about it before but I think a reprogrammed Cadence would make for a better situation....after all, the goody-good princess of love leading a resistance is really quite boring! Nightmare Moon could reprogram her to be a lustful being that could cast spells to make Nightmare Moon's enemies lust for one another so much they wouldn't even focus on trying to take her down. It would be kind of like the love poison except that rather than simply staring into one another's eyes, they'd be bucking non-stop.

Well, Celestia was completely missing until they used the elements on Nightmare Moon and she did the whole Good Witch Glenda routine, so I'd guess she was being held someplace until Nightmare Moon was no longer there to keep here there. Maybe she was stuck in the moon herself.

Alternatively, she just followed Twilight around the whole time invisible and did a fancy illusion of appearing and dropped it at a moment she thought was appropriate.

I'd lean towards escaped and went underground, since I'm sure she'd at least have been dating Shining Armor at that point, and he's pretty good with those shields, at least.

Queen Chrysalis probably wouldn't be looking to impersonate a Princess that was on the run, either.

You know, it'd be interesting if Nightmare Moon's rule was even worse for Chrysalis, and she teamed up with Cadance and the resistance...

Well I tend to notice that Cadence is in A LOT of clopfics. I personally like to make her Twilight's sub. I think having Discord be the one opposing Nightmare Moon would be fun. Then again though, he could simply snap his claws and probably defeat her in nothing flat.....I could see Discord using his chaos magic to drive her batshit crazy before finally doing what it took to defeat her.

Cadance uses transformation magic to hide among Nightmare's servants. After all, nobody will suspect simple pegasus or unicorn of being Princess in disguise. Then she uses her magic to slowly erode Nightmare's will into nothing. After that she takes over Equestria, as one true Queen, until Celestia returns. Nightmare is relegated to controlling Firmament and being portable magical battery for her owner.
At least it what I would do, if I wrote fanfic in such scenario. Then again, in my stories Cadance is nicer and way more terrifying version of Sombra.

Yeah that would make a lot of sense but I think that having Cadence cast lust spells on a lot of ponies would be a ton of fun.....and in the instance of Twilight, Fluttershy and Rarity....she could make them all lust for one another AND her. A four way involving them would be quite raunchy.
