Happy thanksgiving everyone!
Now, for a contest about thanksgiving numbers!

Why didn't you pick turkeys?:rainbowwild:

3831015 Because inevitably there would be an entry about a turkey getting eaten and that would be depressing

3831022 Very wise of you. My thanksgiving has enough dead poultry in it for my liking already.

Twilight

Five friends have pushed her through all strife.
Four guardians rise against eternity's blade.
Three races have combined in the glory of the night.
Two Siblings shall lose each other to time's merciless embrace.
One Life has been forever changed.

Immemorial

The rain as always goes on too long,
the warm sunshine pushes through.
Dizzily, unsteadily, running away,
it'll likely be swallowed up by the swelling heart.
Swaying, swaying, before crumbling,
Spend the time leaning on me, wherever is fine.
Let's forget, just this one night,
in the passing moments, taking cover from the rain.
Lit by the gentle moonlight,
a brief dream shining hazily.
Let's forget, just for a little bit,
accompanying you in the beautiful, empty silence.
Nonetheless, in order to awaken again,
a dream during the day lingers in the present.
The hands pass on by as we remain,
the rain falls forever.

I for 1 am very glad
that friends like you exist
The things you all have done 4 me
are far 2 many 2 list

But now chaos has come again
and 8 up all we've done
So now we the royal guard
must fight until we've 1

The 6 we used 2 trust with this
are now all dead and gone
But we have 6, of our own
600 ponies strong

So here now is a message, before I lead you out
I may be a general, but my friends I'm nothing without

3831151 Good poem, but where are the ponies? or numbers?

The light shines down on my blind eyes,
Or so I am told.
The wind makes the leaves tremble before the Running of the Wind,
But how do I know?
I can smell the sap,
Taste the hay,
Feel the wind,
But I cannot see the beauty of the world.
I have four friends,
Four senses,
Four siblings,
Four everything.
Four feels like a curse.

I literaly just went and put something together after seeing this being promoted in an other group. Hope you enjoy it! ^^

Two was devided by one which then stood alone.
One thousand years was the time they left her to moan, a single trace of hope in her face never shown.
For one and one can't be two on their own, and as such she was convinced she'd be staying forelonen, all until the day she was nothing but bone.
But soon almost all the one thousand doomed years by her flown, and her future no longer seemed written in stone.
One littly filly with great powers shown, the roof of the tower she almost had blown.
She'd watched how the filly had grown, always striving to be the princess' clone.
She hoped the filly could be what she weren't on her own, making two of one and one that stood lone.
Uniting night and day whith it's clone, writing the alicorns future in stone, the filly's true power is finally shown.

Learning

The little filly, mumbling, spit the word "one!" all over her mother, who giggled joyfully, her face lit.
"Wow, Fiji! You did it!"
The toddler, smiling a toothless grin, hugged her mother, the butter yellow animal lover.
The foal smiled as she pounded her hand on the counting book's cover.
"Two!" the little filly squealed, her shining green eyes entrancing her mother.
The pegasus mare looked around her her significant other.
The mother praised her foal as the father came down to join the fun.
He smiled at the filly's words, not there to shun.
"Fhwee!" the foal yelped.
"It's three, dear," Fluttershy said, trying to help.
The filly said the number, right this time.
Her red skinned father reached over and wiped the filly's mouth free of grime.
The filly kissed her father.
And the father found that it was not a bother.
And as the filly proceeded to four.
Big Mac called out, "More, more!"

Numbers can mean anything. I took numbers to mean hours, and hours to mean time. I mentioned the hands of a clock, and the passing of time, never once informing you of which or what it might be. I did not give names, because names ruin the context, and instead you should wonder yourself.

3832579 I see what you mean, but my didn't mention names either, but you still know it's about ponies. Yours has no factor that I can find that connects it to mlp in any way. It's still a good poem, I'm just having a hard time finding the relation.

Stop the Journey?

Yes, I remember, long ago,
In mind's eye still I see
My friends and I adventuring:
A time when we were three.

Those days are gone, no more are we
A trio bound as one:
Though memories shall never fade,
Crusading days are done.

Sometimes I dream about it still:
That carefree, far-off youth
When all of us, in friendship, sought
To find eternal truth.

Time waits for nopony, of course,
And nothing can I do
But wait till we are three again,
Adventuring anew.

Who's the mare out in the field?
That's what they say.
That's what they all say.

Who's the lunatic who spends her days
Counting every blade of grass?
Why does she put so much effort into
Something that makes no difference?
That's what they say.
That's what they all say.

Why does the mare with the sideways eight on her flank
Bother to count something that no one cares about?
Why doesn't she do something productive like everyone else?
That's what they say.
That's what they all say.

Well, yes it may be pointless
But that doesn't matter.
I know that there's twenty-two million
Eight hundred sixty-seven thousand
Seven hundred and two blades of grass in that field.
I counted.

So what if all of Ponyville says I'm crazy?
If every one of the ten thousand
Five hundred eighty seven residents says I'm crazy?
They don't know what I do for them.

They say I spend every day counting the blades of grass.
It's true.
I spend time every day counting the grass.
But I also count everything else.
I count how many clouds come out of Cloudsdale.
I count how many trains come out of Canterlot.
I count how many bushels of apples are sold at the market.

They don't appreciate the numbers.
They don't appreciate knowing about the world around them.
They don't care about the infinite wonder numbers can provide.
That's what I say.

I wanted to write one. I know I can't win because I'm part of the judging but I still like to write.

1 purple unicorn eats a daffodil sandwich
2 pegasi practice their cheering
3 earth ponies work on the farm
4 dresses made by a fancy unicorn
5 cakes baked by a pink pony
6 best friends

How It Began - A Celestial Sonnet

Beloved student, my how you have grown
From awkward filly to an awkward mare
One day I will reveal the seeds I've sown
To keep your mind and heart free from despair
With three balloons to lift your spirits free
Three diamonds to reflect your secret heart
Three butterflies to build your empathy
Three apples keep you grounded from the start
One bolt of lightning made the magic grow
And reach from soil into the stars above
Six hearts entwined in multicolored glow
That saved the moon-mare, Sister that I love

From then to now, through all that you have done
My love for you outshines the noonday Sun
