Ocalhoun, I use sad in a general sense. No matter if its from a charecters point of view or the readers. However, I will clarify.

The real tragedy is the spelling in this group's title.

You name the group 'true tragedies', but then make folders only for 'sad' fics.

Sad: makes the reader feel sad.
Tragedy: The main character fails to achieve his goal.
