Howdy there. I know I hardly ever use the blog pages, but I'm still lingering around. I'm still a bit busy out in the world, but I'm quietly revamping my mind to imagine more things. It's hard to pick back up after finishing eight years of hard work, but I guess I can work my way back into it a little bit, and I plan on doing that with a new story.
Now I know the question some have asked, will there be a sequel to It's Complicated? Short answer: Yes, two of them but in the spinoff variety. Now these two I don't intend to be nearly as dark as It's Complicated, since this isn't Nondis we're dealing with. He might make a few cameos, appearances, maybe be a side character for an arc, not the focus. But what I can highlight for now is the one perspective that you the readers will be hearing from a lot more often in the coming weeks: Spike. Now with all of that said, I do have some interesting developments I want to share.
So I have also seen a number of questions of what the characters look like in that story. Well, I do intend to share some of that TODAY with the invention of a new pony AI art generator. As for those characters, I will be selecting the ones that I have finished already. So, for the first time say hello to these following characters.
Darling Angel
The young filly who functions as the brain of the Congregant. The AI doesn't seem to take the foal prompt too well, but in the midst of the error I've ran into, I grew to like the idea of her emerging from her shadow, including parts of her mane being engulfed by it as well. Since I had to keep it safe, I didn't prompt for blood or anything of the sort.
Umbra Sanctus Quorum of House Bastion
This motherfucker took FOREVER to get remotely close to right. He's almost as hard for an AI to put together as he was to take down in the story. I feel like that's his way of punishing me for killing him off (sarcasm). I couldn't quite get the face right, especially the markings... that was until I had put in a prompt that I didn't dare put in by itself: Scary Maze. Ironic how he didn't come out close to how I imagined him being until I put in what is still the most scaring face to look at in jumpscare history (if there is even a history for that category to begin with).
Alabaster Charm
Alas, I wish I could've gifted you an image sooner. Oh well, guess I'll commission some artists to do some spicy works of him later. Like look at that face (despite being in uncanny valley, he looks pretty good), look at those eyes, can you imagine getting blown by a trap this easy to look at? His throat skills would be greatly appreciated when accompanied by the well-deserved reward of a facial. It's too bad we won't get to see much of him later... Tragedies.
Blue Royal
Of the ones generated so far, she trends the most favorably on Derpi. Her pearls are a bit borked, but her face and countenance is exactly as I imagined her to be. She should definitely get some art done of her. I'll be sure to commission someone eventually. She obviously deserves it.
Melanie Brewer/Cherry Balm
I got a legendary pull for both of these images. I was using two different AI generation sources to get this one done. The human one was done first, the pony one was done later. After a few prompts, I got the result I wanted without even providing a reference. Even the posing is the same, the hair, the countenance, it's a solid match for both and I'm happy for the results.
Clifford Stoudemire/Cocoa Shea
Another one of those pictures that took more than an absurd amount of time to get right. And just like with Melanie, I had to go to another source for the human AI imaging. Luckily, that one was the first one that was the first go for that one. So it was a half-and-half process.
Rickey Santaña/Strapping Lad
Yet again, this one took a long time to pull together. The human one I got in a few tries, the pony one took me a long time to get remotely close to what I was going for. It seems that some prompts like the word "orange" sends the bot into a tizzy, a brutal one that will have you going back and forth with it until you manage to get what you want out of it.

It's good to see your creativity hasn't faded away. It's encouraging really as it bodes well for me and my stories, so it is great to see your return and I look forward to more works put forth by you.
I can't believe that your actually going to give your story not just 1 but 2 sequels. I cannot wait for them to arrive!!

Great to see you back and your plans for sequels sound pretty exciting! While I'm a little disappointed we won't see Nondis much, as I thought him and Celestia were the best part of the fic, it'll be really interesting to see what you do with this world and the other great characters you've made
Oh damn good to hear from ya, TSA! Glad to hear you’re alright and chugging along. Man I thought this little gargantuan of a story was done but I’m intrigued by these spin-offs. The fact that you stress that they’re not as dark as It’s Complicated is really relieving. It’s a great read, but man did it get awfully depressing and nightmarish for a number of characters, to the point I almost didn’t have it in my heart to keep reading about them suffering.
But I’m still happy to see more! And man, I can’t thank you enough for the looks at your characters! I often find myself struggling to picture OCs just by description, I’m very much a visual learner so I gotta have that specific visual reference or I might substitute other character who look the closest like them in my head. For example, due to the colors I kept substituting Alabaster and Blue Royal with Svengallop and Minuette respectively lol. Oh and for some reason I kept seeing Umbra as having Sprout Cloverleaf’s colors, which really bugged me because they have no color similarities.
But again, thank you so much for all your hard work! I really anticipating what you’ve got in store, especially if we get to see more of Nondis’s friends. They were some of my favorite parts of It’s Complicated.
