Question of the Week #72 · 2:21am Sep 21st, 2022
Hello everyone and welcome back to the question of the week. I'm glad you're all here and I'm hoping you're all having a wonderful week so far.
This week I have an interesting questions to bring up... Hopefully.
In my Neo Somnambula story idea, I decided I wanted to include one of my favorite ships... That being Spike and Sweetie Belle. In this AU, both of them own a shop called SpikeNSweets, which serves both as a cafe as well as a store selling VR (virtual reality) products, games and accessories. While Sweetie Belle runs the cafe (which does sell a few pastries), Spike is in charge of the VR section. Due to VR-pods being fairly spendy, there are a couple rooms where ponies can rent one for a period of time (kind of like karaoke... Except not).
So my questions are as follows:
- Do you like the name of the shop (if not do you have any suggestions)?
- What sort of VR games/programs do you think might be sold in such a shop?
Thank you all for coming and participating in these blogs, I really appreciate your feedback.
May you all have a marvelous week.
I’m not sure about SpikeNSweets. My first thought was ‘it sounds like a bakery where I could also buy a morning star’.
I do like the karaoke-style renting a VR pod. There are a lot of shooting games irl, so maybe a game where you play as an officer from an elite squad (basically the Horizon Knights with the serial numbers filed off, complete with khopesh) defending against a horde of zombies. Maybe a dancing game (canon in multiple generations!) and the better you do, the more mares appear ‘on stage’ to dance with you. Racing games are always popular, on vehicles or on hoof. Flight simulator (with refundable cleaning deposit). If they have linked pods, a werewolf-style game where you’re members of one gang but there’s a mole among you.
And for purchase, farming simulators and management simulators, easy to play and you don’t need to rush.
It really depends on how mature the story is. It could range from anything as simple as allowing non-winged ponies to experience what it's like to soar through the clouds, to having sex with one of the princesses and everything in between.
The most popular renting item is the virtual suit for motion detection. Nopony borrows the VR that comes with it though, for some reason. And they keep referring to it as: a gimp suit.

I like it! Sounds like an Internet cafe with coffee and video games, and I can’t resist the pun on bite/byte.
Hmm this sounds interesting.
The name of the shop could relate to VR so maybe something like Funtasia or a name that invokes the feeling of having fun in a virtual world.
The VR games could be pretty much anything from horror to fantasy or even experiencing living like the mythical 'humans' Twilight often talks about from visiting the human world.
