    Supermassive 2023 Art Dump

So! Back. Not dead. Big surprise. Life's been kinda hectic for awhile now for a variety of reasons I won't go too much into, but I've had a nice long break and am feeling ready to get back to a semi-regular writing schedule! However, I have still been doing art for the past,,, six months, has it really been that long? Jeez. So, here's a big ol' pile of stuff that I haven't shared here, by month.

    Hues of June Week 3

    Hues of June 18a - Flesh!Big Macintosh
    (Spoilered for body horror)
Nothing like a hard day’s work to get up an appetite.
tbh, this might be one of the best things I’ve ever drawn in terms of anatomy and shading.

February-March Updates & Art Dump · 11:17pm Mar 1st, 2022

Well, good-bye February, and good riddance. This is proving to be my most arduous semester yet -- protip, don't do a simultaneous double major and double minor. Bad will happen.

In good news, I've been accepted to at least one grad school, so that's one anxiety I no longer have to hold onto. Also, this month my college writer's guild is doing a little challenge! If anyone happens to want to participate, I'll put up the prompt list. The challenge is to choose either prompt for a given day and write at least 100 words on it.

Not sure yet how I'm going to post my ficlets, but we shall see.

And of course, busy schedule or no, I'm always going to make time for art.
First up, we have an updated version of my eldritch Celestia design, wreathed with halos and tendrils of trailing light

Next, a series of entries in my TMA tarot

3 of Cups / MAG 153 - Love Bombing

The three of cups is for collaborations and friendships, which here have been poisoned into the unhealthy codependence of a cult.

8 of Cups / MAG 85 - Upon the Stair

“As I was going up the stair, I met a man who wasn’t there.” The eight of cups represents abandonment and escapism, as the statement-giver in this piece finally surrenders to the man upon his stair and fades away into nothingness.

Ace of Discs / MAG 130: Meat

The Ace of Discs repesents new career opportunities (filling a hole with meat), manifestation (of a new world ruled by the meat god), and an abundance (of meat). Reversed, it can mean a lack of foresight or lost opportunity (because you forgot about Gertrude Friggin’ Robinson)

3 of Discs / MAG 057 - Personal Space & MAG 106 - A Matter of Perspective & MAG 135 - Dark Matter

The three of discs represents collaboration and working together to a common goal, such as how the Lonely, Dark, and Vast all got together to build a space shuttle to terrorize some astronauts. The reverse means disharmony or working alone, represented by the isolation of the entities’ victims from one another.

8 Discs / MAG 34 - Anatomy Class

This card is associated with practice, learning, and skill development, while reversed, it can mean self-development or misdirected activity. The Anatomy Students exemplify all of these meanings – they are being taught how to appear human, piece by piece, which is quite literal self-development, but the way they go about learning that is… well, misdirected is one word for it.

2 of Wands / MAG 134 - Time of Revelation

Two of Wands represents planning for the future, progress, and discoveries; reversed, it is a failure to plan and a fear of the unknown. The Extinction pairs nicely with this – you can plan all you like, but is it ever enough? Here, Bernadette Delcour explores the rediscovered apartment of futurist Garland Hillier, and walks out to find the grim post-human future he wrote about. She hesitates at the threshold, suddenly uncertain of what she will find outside.

5 of Wands / MAG 42 - Grifter’s Bone

The five of wands represents strife, conflict, and tension, which speaks clearly to the ethos of Mr. Grifter. Reversed, it can refer to conflict avoidance, such as was practiced by statement giver Jennifer Ling staying outside the venue and recording the music for later. It can mean inner conflict, represented by Ms. Ling’s struggle to replay that music. And it can mean a release of tension, such as what happened when she was finally successful in replaying that murderous music.

10 of Wands / MAG 50 - Foundations

The 10 of Wands represents a burden and extra responsibility, and reversed it can mean delegation. So I went with the statement about the man who gets trapped inside a wall in a debtor’s prison.

Page of Wands/MAG 126 - Sculptor’s Tool

The Page of Wands represents infinite potential and inspiration, something which the Worker in Clay has in spades. Reversed, it can refer to a spiritual path and being limited by one’s own beliefs, which also represents the Worker in Clay’s relationship to the Spiral.

The Chariot / Alice ‘Daisy’ Tonner

The Chariot represents control, willpower, and determination, which Daisy was able to use after escaping the coffin to keep her Hunt side relatively dormant. Reversed, it can mean a lack of direction or opposition.

The Devil / MAG 69 - Thought for the Day

The Devil represents attachment, restriction, and addiction, all very Webby words. Annabelle Cane here sits in her web, pulling strings of fate that guide everything into position. Reversed, the card can mean detachment and exploring dark thoughts, which can be representative of the experiment that led to Ms. Cane’s Becoming.

The World / MAG 160 - The Eye Opens

The World represents completion and accomplishment, achieved unwillingly by the Archivist in the season 4 finale as the sum of all his traumas combined to form the Watcher’s Crown, bringing with it a whole new world of fears.

Reversed, it means hello Jon. Apologies for the deception, but I wanted to make sure you started reading, so I thought it best not to announce myself.

All color palettes used in these cards are from dieanywhereelseart on tumblr.

And finally, I started thinking about making individual covers for each of the separate statements in The Sunset Archives, so here's one I did to test it out.

Hope all of you reading this are well! Have a fabulous start of spring.

Very cool stuff as always. And I may have to consider that daily prompt...

Best of luck with the double double!

Beautiful well thought-out art, and thinking of you and the Degree2.

Stay cool!

So, turns out I did consider that daily prompt. And did a fair amount more with it.

Oh wow! I didn't end up finishing out the month, just bits and spots. I'm still getting around to actually posting them up, as well. But that's absolutely marvelous, I look forward to reading what you make of my prompts!
