So this weekend, I'm recovering from my third Covid shot reaction and trying to scrawl out a new chapter of How Twilight Learned and discovering that there is an update to an old favorite story of mine.
Journey with a Batpony by Gulheru
The story is the capstone project of the author's Batpony series, and it is an awe inspiring piece of work. I'm no stranger to world-building, easily pulling together geography, names, and plots from thin air. But when an author creates an entirely new culture, complete with competing philosophies, interests and even a new language complete with an online searchable vocabulary... Well, that's taking things to a whole new level and Gulheru's work is both impressive and a compelling read.
I was lucky enough sometime back to be allowed to write a non-canon story set in that universe, and my effort is a pale shadow in the light of Immaculate Moon. Read Journey with a Batpony and its prequel pieces for a masterclass in how to create new worlds.
might as well link it since i'm tooting your horn anyways: children of the night mother
Yes, I am familiar with that story. Good stuff.
Have you read The Monster in the Twilight or its sequel?
