Early New Year's resolutions, and Old Year's conclusions

Well, another year's come and gone. How did the resolutions go? Half and half in my case. Managed to partially accomplish what I set out to do, moving from wondering how to do things to figuring out what to do. I believe I've successfully identified the habits that are hampering or even harmful to me, so that's progress.

    Resolutions for the new year?

Summer update 2: What's Sticking to the Wall?

    Quick update on future plans.

Still working on the original stuff, I think I'm down to the last rewrite of what I wanted to do, only question is what to change in terms of details. Art's had some progress, but work responsibilities and sweet, sweet sleeping problems have caused disruptions.

    Summer update: what next?

Honestly? Not sure. I never publish anything that's not complete, so I'm not breaking any promises there. Thing is, I haven't started on anything new yet, and hadn't lined anything up before the previous one.

War of the Mark, progress report · 1:13pm Jan 23rd, 2022

Hey, all.

Things started off well this year, been a little bit on the bad side past few weeks, but still alive, so that's good. Got my third shot, bit of a recurring headache, but that also is nothing major.

Anywho, progress report. First few weeks of the year I've focused on the third and final part of the Bastion trilogy, currently with the working title War of the Mark. It's meant to be sort of the Infinity War/War of the Spark conclusion to the series, and mostly features one long siege of various parts of Equestria. As the name implies, it's kind of an invasion, similar to ole' Bolas's scheme with the zombies and all, but, umm... it's got a little twist to it. It's not the usual horde tactic.

Three chapters are done in first draft, hitting a minor snag in chapter 4 in that it features a one vs many combat scenario. I haven't done one of those scenes yet, I don't think I've ever read any good ones to use as a base, either, so I'm not sure how I'll get clarity into it as well as maintain tension. Got a few ideas, though, and will be treating it as a learning experience.

Current goal is nine chapters, so I'm almost halfway. I had hoped to be finished by the end of January, but that looks impossible at the moment, so February it'll have to be. After that, I think I'm going to focus more on the art side of things, maybe some ideas in the furry fandom. Ideas for pony fics include the artificer colt stories I mentioned earlier, and the changeling beauty contest comedy fic, but I don't know if I can really do the latter. And I mean that in both senses of the word: I don't know if I'm capable of writing that, and I don't know if I should, with the potential blowback from various, shall we say, passionate people with outspoken opinions. My biggest hurdle in that one is how they get the changeling hippy from the Feelings Forum to agree to be a judge, despite it being so against her overall morals. Will have to meditate on it, maybe the tarot cards will help again.

Cracker out.

Oh yeah, New Year's resolutions, forgot about those. Got a few, think I'm holding up alright, but the bad stuff mentioned up top is... kinda getting in the way there. Weight's good, though, I'm half a kilogram down compared to usual, lastingly so.
