It's the obligatory new year blog post.

And yes, I am posting this at around midnight on new year. I have a nasty cold, so I decided to disobey nurgle's one command and stay home.

    Just for kicks

I'm mucking around with Lulu for a work-related project (very boring stuff) and thought I would do a quality test with something fun.

Or maybe that comma is in the wrong place. I haven't decided yet.

    The odd things

I've just been reading through old comments on my scraps story, after publishing yet another chunk from the ancient cutting room floor. It's remarkable how many of the commenters are still around - but also how many logged off for the last time, soon after making their last comment there.

    But in brighter news

While I'm not making any promises about any particular project here, I am actually writing again. I figure if I write enough of something, some pony words might drop out somewhere along the line as well. You never know. What I'm working on at the moment is essentially a re-write of a story I read a long time ago; an old pulp sci-fi tale, about a spaceship that manages to get lost in the

Xenophilia fans, I demand you... · 11:50pm Dec 8th, 2012

... go and read this. I'm serious. Just read it.

In fact everyone else go read it too. Just because I say so!

I'd explain why, but I'm terrible at explanations. Suffice to say it took a very interesting peek at a few things. It's well worth the read even if you're not particularly a Xeno fan, but if you are (especially if you were into the worldbuilding stuff) then you must take a look.

I demand it.

Already read it. I was extremely impressed with the world building in that. Definitely a worth addition to the Xeno-verse.

Very well, master... :pinkiecrazy:

EDIT: :facehoof: I already have it in my read later list...

...ok :applejackconfused:

Edit: But... didn't want to read chapter 2 b4 reading chapter one

I'm already subscribed to Further tales. I'll read it with eagerness.

Already favorited and read, but that's an extremely interesting thing that I never thought about as including as an actual thing. Spontaneous musicals as a real thing in Equestria.

I love it. Totally including that in my own story somewhere.

*reads the linked chapter* Ugh, I really disliked that. Not only was the grammar awful, the dialogue often stilted, and the description surreal and disjointed, but the worldbuilding it tried to do was mildly nonsensical at best. I've come to expect solid, interesting social analysis from the Xenophilia universe, and for the most part stories claiming to be in it have delivered (the original, the side stories, and the Xenophile's notes). This, on the other hand, seemed to entirely lack any social insights into how a gender-skewed herd-based society might behave differently than our own, concentrating instead on... I'm not entirely sure what. What the future might be, I guess? Random tidbits about how Lero's the only one who can save the world because everyone else's hands/hooves are tied?

Either way, I wasn't terribly impressed.

further tales just don't feel like Xenophilia at all. at least 1st chap was pretty meh. i'll give the second a try, but not now, i'm more in the mood of drinking gintonic and shooting some NC and VS in the face.
