Question for readers of the Ultimate Spiders and Magic saga · 10:18am Dec 18th, 2021
Originally, I intended to keep everything separate to help make things easier for everyone to digest. Like mini arcs and whatnot.
However, I wonder if that is best or if it would be wiser to keep everything contained in larger format. Like maybe three arcs to one story.
Seeing that Rainbow Rocks has already amassed nearly as many dislikes already as New Beginnings, maybe I'm just trying to stop the bleeding. What do you guys think?

I think go for the three arcs per singular story.
I'd personally prefer the stories were a little longer. They don't have to be as long as the original spiders and magic story, but still, longer.
I think the three arc per story structure could work. Though, TBH, I'm fine with individual stories too.

Arcs are a good idea, but if you want to keep them as their own story, that's fine too.
Pros of the arcs means that people can have a favorite story, or some just prefer a specific arc and could have re-read value, plus it has a bit of a comic feel, but the cons are that they could come off as a bit short.
Pros of a longer story gives it more of manga feel and it gives more life to the story and the character's growth, going from doing something seemingly minor to seeing just how far that character has come along the course of the story. Cons could be that the story feels long or the arcs don't feel connected.
It's your choice in the end, I'm personally fine with either, just go with your gut instinct.
Personally I like this idea of maybe putting together two arcs per story so that you get to have it be a little more lengthy, but not have it over stay its welcome, I'd also like to add that it's honestly all up to you.... If you want to keep doing it the way have been. That's your choice.
With fanfiction I've never had an issue with putting together giant stories. So long as it isn't used an excuse to abandon proper story structure.
I tried going for too many arcs before. And it felt like a mess. So maybe go for 3.
Depends on how long each arc goes on for, how many there are in a story and if each share any interconnection with each other. Think of each story hypothetically as like a season of episodes (like for example "Avatar: The Last Airbender") that take up at least two or three different running arcs with a few break durations in-between. The short prologue story would be considered as the pilot episode.
I'm quite fine with the method you're doing now, but if you want to add your arcs together to increase the story length, that's fine too. It would be nice to feel as if the stories didn't go by too quickly after they just came, but then again I wouldn't want them to drag on too long and overstay their welcome. The choice is yours.
I say keep it how it is now. It has more of a comic feel with the arcs separated this way plus it makes it easier on you if you hit a road block.
Personally, I don’t have a problem with either option. However, unless there’s a significant reason for the arcs to be there own stories, I do believe that it’s better to mash up up the arcs into one single story, it allows the reader to have a wider extension of the story to read in one collective.
But I do also agree with edCOM02 and Masterob on the arcs being their own stories, since it gives the story a sort of seasonal method, like watching a tv series.
However, if you do go with this method, depending on how many parts you’ll plan to make for the story, it would be wise to make sure the arcs are categorized to make sure they’re all part of the same series, and not spin-off stories in that drift away from the main one.
But this is just my thought. In the end, I agree with everyone else and say that you go with what you feel more comfortable.
And if you feel you need something extra to help you finalize your decision, perhaps you can make a poll so that people can vote for which of those two options they prefer that you go with.
But again, the choice is yours my friend. Go with the one you personally feel more comfortable with, and try not to let too much of the dislikes demotivated you from choosing what you want.
I like how you're doing things Max but if you decide to change back I wouldn't mind, do what you want to do It's your story after all
I like your current story format, but yeah they are a bit short for me. It doesn't have to be a giant epic all the time. So yeah 3 arcs in on story and have interludes in between them. Anyways I am excited that your back and I love this Ultimate Spiders and Magic universe.
When is the next chapter coming out?
Keep making more chapters man.
