The title of Feathered Hearts chapter 17 is "Best Laid Plans"... · 11:06pm Dec 15th, 2021
Which is apt, seeing how my writing plans are ever-so-slightly falling through.
Don’t worry, there will be no delay on the third chapter. However, it was reaching well north of 16k words, so I was forced to split it in two. I’m of the opinion that writers shouldn’t force people to read anymore than 14-15k at a time/per chapter, and even that is pushing it.
So what does this mean? It means you’ll get a fourth chapter two or three days after the third (I’ll try to make it two), and that is where the Cloven attack begins. Or actually, it’s already begun, as you’ll see some signs of it even in the third chapter. Our heroes remain blissfully ignorant for now, however, or maybe they’re just too distracted by everything else going on.
I considered offering up a teaser, but no. The reason is twofold: first, there are those who haven’t read the first couple chapters yet whom I’d be spoiling events for, and second, I really don’t want to give anything away for these last 16k words. I mentioned before that I’m taking a much different route to the Cloven, and what this means is that the reason they’re out flying by air coach is entirely different now. I’ve also changed the makeup of the escort soldiers, both human and griffon. And you’re going to see new ranks awarded to our favorite griffies beforewing as well--a reward for services rendered.
Put another way, I said before that I couldn’t justify Gilda being jumped all the way to rank to sub-Tribune at once. But there’s no reason she can’t get there in stages.
