What's the problem with OCs? · 8:15pm Aug 8th, 2021
I mean, why do people not like OCs? Is it because they're not canon? Is it because of their existence? If so, they why did they come to be? I've seen some really great OCs in the past and even made some myself. Not to mention, some people like them, so what seems to be the problem?
Sorry. It's just that I really want to know the answer.
I feel like more often than not, it's not the OC itself, but rather how they're written that turns people off. You can still have a ridiculously overpowered OC that everyone likes, just as long as you know what to do with them.
In my experiences, the average OC is just an avatar of how the writer wishes they were. No flaws. Women love them. All powerful. Everyone else kisses their ass. Validation and praise is heaped upon them. You get the picture. People usually don't like those kinds of characters.
