State of the Scribe: April 2024

You know what they say about the best laid plans? I'll be real brief with this update, for reasons that will be self-evident.

State of the Scribe: February 2024

Another month, albeit the shortest of the year. I still haven't had a chance to get into the process side of my writing and write that detailed plan for the year, been too busy writing a novel. Guess that's a good problem to have.

This is exactly the 71st month I've posted a patreon calendar. Almost but not quite six years of writing fanfic, sharing all these ideas with you that would otherwise stay trapped in my head. I couldn't begin this post, and the beginning of a new year without expressing my profound thanks to everyone who keeps supporting me. Your help, big or small, is the only reason I'm still able to write

New Story: The First Willowbrook Christmas!

Hey pones! A Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! Last year I wrote a short story for the holiday, but the editing pushed it back for a little while. For those who enjoyed Sisters of Willowbrook, I have a story for you to check out! The final chapter will get posted tomorrow:

Pones of all ages, welcome welcome to another month! I've been incredibly busy this last month with all kinds of crazy stuff, but I'll save that for the end so I can focus on the things people actually care about.

First, you'll notice only one new story this time--and in truth, it's a new, old story. Diplomatic Solution is a story that used to be monthly way back in the day--a story of the galaxy in chaos, where the student six were sent to negotiate peace between the friendly races of the galaxy and the magical overlords who were oppressing it. The story was paused quite a long time ago, but. has made its return! Seems like it might be a long one, so we'll see if it gets finished. But considering how long Return to Sender has been on this list, maybe long stories can work. I do hope to get that one finished this year, so people here can read it. But only time will be the ultimate judge.

Sisters of Willowbrook and Forbidden Places continue without interruption, so not much to say on those. All our monthly stories are still going as well. In case anyone doesn't know how those work, the first chapters are up for anyone, the remainder I make available to my patrons of every level. When they complete, they will be published on fimfiction. I just don't like posting stories that slowly.

We also have Together We, the sequel to the last fairy story I posted here. Anyone can read it on my patreon, but I will also link it as a complete PDF once it's done. [url=https://www.patreon.com/RealStarscribe/posts?filters[tag]=Together%20We&sort=published_at]https://www.patreon.com/RealStarscribe/posts?filters[tag]=Together%20We&sort=published_at

We also have minifics posted that way--eventually I'll put those in my anthology collection here, starscribbles. But I haven't got around to it yet. This upcoming month, we have the story about a brave explorer deer in crystal ruins and some unlikely friendships.

This last month has taught me just how much more difficult it is to do book fulfillment when not everyone gets the same things. Offering all my old books meant shipping took a lot more time. I'll have to seriously rethink how I handle that in the future. But I do want to print more books, and that means getting every Fine Print order delivered first. Every book should be shipped by the end of this week. I'll give it some time for all those orders to arrive before I start thinking of the next book. I'm thinking I'd like to do Founders of Alexandria. I feel like LPoE isn't complete on the ship without it. But we can look at that later.

So that's about it for this month. The current monthly stories follow, with links to their first chapters for anyone who is curious.

Dreamlands: The story of a batpony who ventures into the dreamlands to try and rescue Nightmare Moon from banishment and save her outcast tribe. Read at: https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-45878879

Frames of War: A Warframe crossover in which an old-war relic is opened on Equestria, unleashing the Infestation. Their only hope may lie in the hooves of a single Tenno. Read at: https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-frames-35421681

We also have some art for this story, showing what the infestation does to Equestrian ponies. Truly horrifying stuff. This is what the tenno must prevent from spreading across equestria:

(The artist commissioned for this was https://twitter.com/ZenAquaria/ , by the way.

Return to Sender: Sequel to Message in a Bottle, this story chronicles Harmony's disastrous first contact with an alien race, through the eyes of Olivia's descendant. Read at: https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-return-27346632

Tall Tale of Sweet Sauce: A comedy about an ancient Equestrian "villain" returning from his banishment to earth as a little colt. Adoption may get in the way of his mysterious scheme. Read at: https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-tall-46197856

Diplomatic Solution: Equestria is uplifted into a spacefaring society, not to be received into a perfect utopia, but as the last best hope against a conquering force of magical aliens, who are sweeping across the galaxy. Ponykind doesn't know much about war, but it does know how to make friends. Maybe there's a way to solve things that doesn't need weapons. https://www.patreon.com/posts/new-story-30394496

Last Month was Camp NANOwrimo, and I also wrote 50k words for that... but it was on projects that are not yet complete. I split the words between a high fantasy adventure story about a girl who travels between different realms on a steampunk starship, and a modern magical girl story with a few familiar TF elements. I'll say more on these when they're ready to release.

Hello Starscribe,

I am TRDFS31415, a new brony.

Last night, I was told you have a story about Scootaloo that continues off the plot line of "Surf and/or Turf" called, "I don't want to go home". I didn't find that title on your page.

Did you change the title, or put the link somewhere else?

So my main profile page doesn't have every story I've written, to find that you need to look at my stories listing: https://www.fimfiction.net/user/173490/Starscribe/stories .

You'll find the story you're looking for on the forth page: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/407270/i-dont-want-to-go-home

Thank you for the clarification. I didn't think you had that many stories.
