Hey y'all, I'll start by saying thank you for the warm reception to Coloring Outside the Lines. True it goes downvoted a lot, but the comments were all lovely, and I always knew that was gonna draw the haters. So thank you. But this blog post is meant to talk about an extremely different story on the absolutely opposite end of the spectrum: I'm considering coming back to Torn, my NSFW story.
So it's not secret if you've read the author's notes (if your remember them after so much time), but I had a complicated relationship with that story. Maybe it's in part because I have a complicated relationship with sex. I dunno. But I really thought I was cancelling it for a while. I don't really like writing sex, and I hate reading it. Not out of any prudish reasons, I like porn just fine. It's just a lot of second hand embarrassment when I read it, or it just doesn't do anything for me. But well, I also love sex and sexuality, it's fascinating to me, and I miss having an outlet to explore that.
And then in the past week, Torn came up three separate times, on completely separate platforms with completely separate people. I don't believe in signs, so it's not that, it's just that it got me thinking about the story. So then tonight, I reread it. I skimmed past the early sex scenes because I hate them, but the story is really good. And amazingly, I actually liked the sex scene in the last chapter, been Pinkie and Rarity. I dunno what was different about that, but I didn't skim that, reading the whole thing and enjoying it. It felt like what I wanted the story to be, and I hope to make more chapters like that in the future. And even in the sex scenes I didn't like, I love how they talk about them after and before. I love the awkwardness, I love Twilight trying not to use words, and I love how casually I made the characters touch one another.
And then there's Twilight and Starlight. Holy fuck I love the two of them in this story so much. The way they play off each other is one of the best parts of the story. So I have this fantastic relationship dynamic, I have unique drama that I can't get into in WWB because of how sexual it is, and I have the ability to explore some of my own thoughts on sexuality. It remains the porn story I always wanted, even if it's not really a porn story anymore.
So then, what's the plan? Well, in the coming week, I'll be away from home with nothing but my laptop and lots of time on my hands. That was actually what I was doing the last time I wrote Torn, and I think I'll do it again. At least another chapter.
But still, I want to remind people that I'm no longer trying to write a porn story. I'm writing a story about sex and sexuality with explicit sex scenes and there's not a hell of a lot of difference there, but it will remain primarily a drama more than a porn story at heart. In my original plan, almost every chapter had explicit sex scenes. I'm revising that. They'll still be a major part of the story, but first and foremost I'm thinking of the story as a work of literature and what moves it along and puts the characters in interesting situations. That will sometimes be sex, it will sometimes not be.
Anyway, I hope I can actually do this. I'm not taking the story off hiatus, even if I do write a chapter, because it might just be one chapter every once in a blue moon. But I do hope I can at least do that, and that you'll enjoy it along the way.
I didn't know you /had/ NSFW stories at all :'o I don't know why this surprises me but it does. Might have to give it a read if you're working on it.
I actually just recently read Torn! Like seriously just finished it a few days ago or something. Then I suggested it to my partner and they read it and liked it too! So, very excited to see what might come in the next chapter :D

Just the one. It's similar to my usual style of writing, lots of romantic drama with a queer focus, but it's about sex. Twilight accidentally gives herself a dick with magic, and has to deal with dysphoria for the first time. This is done in a botched attempt to help Starlight, who is a transmare, get a vagina. So yeah, the whole story has a very big trans angle. It's sex positive, but the main character struggles with feeling ashamed of her sexuality, so it's got lots of juicy drama!

Oh nice! When I put the status to hiatus, I thought "That's it, no ones going to read this story anymore" but people still do, and it motivates me to continue it. That said, I've only got like the next two chapters fully planned (I had many more planned, but that was when I was trying to cram sex into every chapter, so now I have to revise for my current mentality), so even if I were to make it a main focus, and I'm not, I would have to take a break to do revisions to the outline. But I do hope to at least get another chapter in this week!
It coming up a few times has put it on my radar and it seems like something I ought to enjoy for the more serious subject matter. I'm happy to see that you are picking it up again!

Yeah that conversation on Discord was a big motivator. It also came up on AO3 where someone commented on it unexpectedly, and on Fimfiction in a group forum. And update on this blog post, me continuing the story is no longer hypothetical. I've almost finished the next chapter, which I'll finish up with shortly, then send off to proofreaders. I still have those few days I'll be away from home, so there might even be two new chapters coming up. That said, don't expect regular updates on this one, so if you're the type who needs stories to be finished or updating frequently, be wary before reading. I last updated it in September, and then July before that, so it's moving at a pace of roughly two or three chapters a year lmao
