    Monthly update

    Hey guys, Frost here.

Just thought I would poke in to give a bit of an update on things. I'm trying to get back into writing to continue some of the projects and stories that I've been working on, but a handful of things going on IRL has put any progress that I wanted to do on the back foot for the meantime.

Still around, but things are slow

Hey guys, Frost here. I know that I've been quiet for... well, a bit. But there's a few things that have my attention be focused elsewhere for the time being. It won't be for too long, but writing has kind of been on the backburner because of some IRL things going on (As always). I will try to have something up in August, but we'll see how it goes.

    A little update on things.

Hey guys, Frost here. As you know, I mentioned in my last blog that I had an idea in the works that I wanted to try out and see if people liked it.

Well, after some thinking, I decided to go for it. Once I look it over a couple more times, it should be good and I'll be sure to submit it. In the meantime though, here's a small taste of the rabbit hole I've been working on.

Story Notes- Newfound Neighbors · 9:19pm Jun 6th, 2021

As is tradition with many of the other stories written by Admiral Biscuit and a few others within the 'Not-A-Contest' genre, I decided to have this blog detail a few notes for how exactly this story came to be so far as well as some of the characters in it. So without further ado, let's get started.

Originally, this first started as a random idea I thought of when going through some of the entries in the Admiral Biscuit's Not-A-Contest group and figure out an idea for another one shot. At the time, I had just started trying to teach myself computers and IT and thought that it would be interesting to try and do a story where an Equestrian was running a tech repair store. Though, the original idea didn't really quite get some traction.

So, I went back to the drawing board and thought that maybe something with a more comedic approach in mind would do a bit better. Surprisingly, I had seen some similar approaches to something like this, but it was more of a human being the next door neighbor of creatures in Equestria. Not the other way around. With that in mind, I began to start working on this and also think about the first couple of chapters.

Which brings me to the next spot. Characters.

Gizmo was a character idea I had for quite a while actually. She was one of four characters that I came up with, which were actually originally inspired by the characters in Sly Cooper. Originally, Gizmo was kind of the group's 'Bentley' given how good she was with mechanical contraptions and tech. Though, I thought that for this, I would have her be more of the star of the story and give her some personality quirks that make her stand out compared to what I had originally planned. At a later point, I might bring in a couple other older character concepts that I have, probably to continue on with the shenanigans.

For Sam, there wasn't anything specific that I tried to do with her. But normally, since many of the human characters in these kinds of stories tend to be male, I thought I would switch it to a girl just to try something different.

As for Mistral... well, she's one part D&D reference and another part based on a particular comment on the story 'Fireproof' by Raugos that I just decided to roll with.

I want to give a big thanks to everyone who had shown their support for this story in the last couple of days. I had not expected for it to gain so much attention and I appreciate it. The next chapter, considering the direction we're headed right now, might be broken down into a couple of parts so that way I don't end up making a Colossal chapter of a campaign to the point that it ends up being its own story. That and, much like Sam, I don't have DM experience so I'm probably going to wing it.

Roll for Initiative!

That might not be correct, what system ya plannin on usein?

Well, considering that my only experience has been 5E, it's probably going to be that. The only campaign that I'm in right now is 5E, so yeah

Well then it's maybe correct, I have absolutely no experience with 5e, the only D&D at my house is 0e/The White Box.
