Low Expectations and Still Disappointed · 8:54pm May 27th, 2021
Man I remember when Sonic games came out ON the anniversary year.
So Sonic Colors Ultimate looks decent. Launches on September 7th. Was planning on getting it on PC, but it's an Epic Store exclusive, so I suppose I'll get it on Switch, or PS4 if it's pretty enough.
Not enough info on Sonic Origins (collection with Sonic 1, 2, 3&K, and CD) to judge whether it's going to be better than what's already available. I'm one of those very rare Sonic fans that didn't enjoy CD all that much.
New Sonic game coming in 2022. They've had five years since Forces, but I'm not betting anything on the quality.
Is Forces good? I don't expect anything great, but is it kinda fun to play and understandable to newcomers?
I know the basics of who the characters are, but not much story-wise.
5525888 Forces is just the latest in a long line of low effort products from SEGA and Sonic Team. It's really sad that Mania, the big success story, had nothing to do with either of them and they just signed off on it.

Forces is... half-decent. Gameplay is passable, story is extremely meh, Tails is horrendously OOC (hey that's important to me), Infinite is massively wasted potential, and the music is freaking amazing.
OG sonic colors is good even on DS and has a banging soundtrack. The PC version was great.
Remember when the teasers made it look like shit was gonna get real in Sonic Forces? Sega loves to do that, don't they? Make it look like a game is gonna be different and then chicken out and make it the same

Took the words right out of my mouth about Sonic Forces. Especially Infinite. Seriously, what they did with Infinite was just embarrassing.
So Colors is getting an HD remaster. Nice, but I think some people are still waiting for a port or a PC release of Unleashed. Also another good, original Sonic game.

If we get a remaster of Unleashed, the Werehog half would either need to be completely overhauled, or give players the option to skip it.
Unleashed's Day levels are the franchise's absolute best. The Werehog is just barely better than '06, IMHO. I never beat Unleashed because I was sick of the Werehog levels.

I am utterly convinced that the Death Egg Robot Phase 2 music was initially meant for an Infinite final boss.
Sonic CD was meh, IMO. And I never really got the hang of the special stages, so I failed them almost every time.
