The best part of writing a story that takes place in 2002 is having to go to Google to ask "Did this thing exist 19 years ago?"
Case in point: portable MP3 players

Alright, I don't know much about the uncensored, original version of Digimon Adventure, but the hitchhiking scene doesn't need subtitles to get its humor across.
Trying to get home to Odaiba, the Chosen Kids fall asleep on the subway, bypassing their destination and riding all the way to the end of the line at Shinjuku (say hi to the Tamers!). So now, they are forced to try and hitchhike.
It's fairly obvious why Saban cut the everloving snot out of this. Kids should not be hitchhiking, and that is definitely a grown woman trying to pick up an 11-year old boy.

Never change indeed. Keep making stuff inappropriate for kids that older viewers can enjoy and appreciate.
The hitchhiking scene in the movie could've been handled so much better too. That new guy, what was his name, Willis? Instead of the ridiculous pizza thing, they could've dubbed it as him calling his uncle, finding out he's just a couple of miles away, and asking for a pickup.

I've been spending the past four days reading a Digimon blog called System Restore. It goes back to review each (dubbed) season, episode by episode, on a letter-grading scale.
I've read everything through Tamers, and Hurricane Landing, the last third of the movie that you're referring to, is the only thing he gave an F. Apparently it didn't even make that much sense subbed either.
