Patrilineality v.s Pride and Joy · 5:46pm Apr 2nd, 2021

Okay, so there's been a little confusion about the Patrilineality stories and their similarities with Pride and Joy. So I thought I'd say this:

Patrilineality and Pride and Joy run on something similar to alternate timelines. The events are all mostly the same and the stories will sometimes intersect (yes, eventually Meta will make more appearances in Pride and Joy), however, there are key differences with two things: how events happened and chronological order.

Firstly, some events will happen differently in each story, as I don't want to make one story a carbon copy of the other with extra characters added in. So certain things or details will be different, but in the end the same conclusion will be drawn.

Secondly, Metamorphosis was set to appear a year after the reformation in Patrilineality, and in Pride and Joy the story has still not come full-circle to that date. So Metamorphosis has not appeared in the story yet. But Melody, you say, Ocellus lost her parents after Metamorphosis showed up! Yes, that is true. But each story has it's own version of the chronological order in which events occurred. So neither story is right or wrong if the events come out-of-order; they each had their own version to begin with.

Yes, the stories will intersect in places, but it will be a while before Metamorphosis returns in Pride and Joy and truly cements the intersection. For now, consider them parallel stories: they run on the same track, heading in the same direction, but they have differences, and while they might intersect somewhere along the line of the story, their final destinations will likely be separate.

I just thought I'd clear some things up a bit, thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.

So any reason for the similar events in general? Such as the deaths of Ocellus’ parents?

I rewrote the Patrilineality version but it didn't involve Meta as much so I made it the Pride and Joy version

I realized the Patrlineality version was kind of dark, but I couldn't rewrite it to make it much better, and Meta was supposed to have a role in the chapters covering it, but when I made the new version and realized he wasn't needed for much in the new version, I made that version the Pride and Joy version
