Alright, so... this is our first look at G5. What I'm going to do here is discuss the image, discuss the summary, and then share with you all something that one of the users pointed out when commenting on another post about this.
So first, the image. Honestly... it's not bad. I like how Sunny looks, and I'm totally alright with the look the animator went with. Also, because this is Equestria in the future, the room looks more modern... which makes perfect sense!
Now, one of the more eye-catching things is how there are already many G4 references scattered around the room. As another user here said... Sunny may be a Mane 6 fangirl. It would make perfect sense, considering on how this summary portrayed her. What I'm really hoping for, though, is for someone to explicitly mention the Mane 6, or something else present in G4 (character, location, event). I'll be disappointed if it isn't, but the show can always mention that, and besides... this is already confirmed canon.
I noticed something, though... I can't see Sunny's cutie mark. Though judging by the images for the movie, those may be tossed out until the show. I don't know.
Now, the description. According to the summary, this takes place in the far-future. Twilight and her friends are long gone, and the new and current rulers have brought Equestria back into disharmony with divided tribes of creatures, and even ponies. It doesn't mention the non-pony creatures, but I know for a fact that they'll be included in G5. And I also know they're part of this division of mistrust.
Now, I noticed something off-the-bat... all pony tribes are split again, but this doesn't seem like a situation to include Windigos. Aren't they supposed to be there when all pony tribes are bitter? The feud may not be as extreme as previous ones. Or maybe, just maybe... the rainbow-beam in the G4 finale permanently destroyed the Windigos for good, and even when tribes fight, they're unable to come back.
As the description carries on, we hear about Sunny. It seems like we may get some typical G4 humor (even without Pinkie Pie). We are told of these brand new locations, so this story will happen in a whole new region of Equestria. Time will tell if they'll visit any G4 places, such as Ponyville. I don't even know if the new rulers are in Canterlot!
It soon mentions Sunny meeting Izzy, and then some of what to expect. But this one line is something that we should all think about...
making new friends out of old enemies
I didn't bother too much with this quote until someone pointed out a possible meaning. But now... this is something I want to discuss.
This is the first part in the G5 story. If this is the first time meeting the characters, how can we hear of old enemies when we haven't even met them yet?
There is once again two possibilities... Hasbro is trolling us, or we're going to get some G4 enemies entering the fray.
Now, hear me out. This may be a misleading quote. I myself am mostly convinced that this is a troll, or something that we expect to happen that won't. But if this does actually mean that we'll see G4 enemies, then there's only one possibility... all unredeemed villains have been put in their place, but these three are in a position that they're most likely to escape from.
Yes, these three. I get it... they're defiant. But the stone prison is the easiest to escape from, while it's a bit harder for those in the aether, or being a shattered stone statue instead. Plus, they're some of the more major enemies, important enough to even be mentioned or hyped. And they're still alive, after all this time! If they do return, I don't know what will happen. I don't know if they'll even come back. But again, this is only one of a few possibilities that I'd like to point out. I don't fully believe it, but it's enough to make you look closely.
And this is a sequel to G4... the beginning of the title makes it clear!
But that is only a theory. A theory that I'm not too confident about, but if it's true, will make me incredibly happy.
I may give this a watch when it comes out. I have not finished watching all of G4, but I want to see what happens here.

Very interesting. Funny enough, I had been hoping that Discord would make another appearance in this series if G5 really was going to be a continuation of G4. The same with Celestia and Luna. After all, these three characters are immortal.

It'd be weird if we didn't see any immortal characters. We definitely have enough characters that are still alive. Just like my theory, though, that relies on chance.
I just hope that G5 wouldn't be bad. Though, I am excited by the possibilities that G5 might have. Will characters from G4 will return? Will it feature creatures that have yet to appear in G4? And the fanfic possibilities, like what if the cast of G5 got sent back through time and meets the cast of G4?
So many possibilities, and so much time!
I wonder how are things in the EQG world at that time.

However, we don't know yet what happens to Discord in G5. I don't even know if we ever will.

That Discord is still around and considers Fluttershy as a friend. It's also possible that he's gone. We don't know. Both sides of the coin, the shippers and non-shippers, the believers and non-believers, have clear evidence. But will we officially know? Probably not.
You definitely make valid points in your views. If Discord is still around in G5, he accepts Fluttershy as a friend. If he puts Fluttershy in danger, he's either ignorant, or sees her as a friend that he will only save if she's in trouble. Or both. He'd definitely feel terrible if he caused her death.
Hopefully, you won't be proven wrong as a concept is a very good one.
If these 3 are be made friends with our protagonist then there must be another villain far greater to antagonize the characters.

That’s true. Even the Spirit of Chaos isn’t immune to guilt and regret.
We don’t know if the Mane 6 and the rest of the MLP G4 characters are long gone or passed away (I hope they don’t.). Besides that, let’s wait and see how the movie goes.
From the look of it, they live in a more modern world.
But it still feels like they're taking the last nine years and throwing it away.
