A print run of Starlight Over Detrot?

So, the Ministry Of Image printing house has a new survey up! Can you guess who is on it?

    https://forms.gle/p7Lnap4AcZnjgZpn9

I am absurdly excited. I doubt we'll get printed, but it would be amazing if we did! I would love to hold a copy of Starlight Over Detrot in my hands one day.

    So, what's next?

Starlight Over Detrot is done and now I'm intent on writing something else. I've got the outline for a romance novel. A non-pony romance novel, mind. That being said, I wanna write a few more pony things while I do that. I've got a heap of ideas for an 'Epilogue Part Four' for Starlight which happens a few years after the events of Epilogue Part Three and just sorta ties everything off.

    I'M NOT DEAD!

Okay, so the final main-story chapter of Starlight Over Detrot is *now* in the editorial pipe-line. It's headed to the people who do the good stuff.

The editors, being the geniuses they are, will likely have it finished VERY soon and I'll pump it out to everybody. Is this the end of Starlight Over Detrot?

    ONE MORE CHAPTER!

Dear lord, shoot me in the face.

All the years I've been writing this and I say to myself "Yeah, gonna finish it tonight!" then the characters get to talking. Talking. Just back and forth. GRAH!

No. No, there are still at least two chapters remaining. Minimum. Starlight will obviously have some significant clean-up and an epilogue. I'm going to try to get those out more quickly. Fortunately, the epilogue and the actual 'The End' is going to take less effort than this crazy-ass last chapter full of weird sci-fi emotions.

A lot of people have probably noticed at this point that Starlight Over Detrot is full to brimming with trans-humanist themes. Trans-humanism is a mix of spiritual principle (insofar as it establishes an afterlife) and moral code for me, so if you have any questions about it feel free to ask them. The next story I write might actually be a cyberpunk tale of some kind. I can't even guarantee it'll be a pony story, but it might.

Starlight Over Detrot was written to teach me to write. When I started writing it, I was a bad writer. I wrote over 100,000 words, then read back through them and realized they were just plain crap. In the original, Limerence was named 'Comet', King Cosmo was the only villain, and it was a relatively short piece. That whole story went in a bin and I think the final piece is significantly better for it.

We started having ideas almost immediately during the re-write. Then the ideas ballooned into the monolithic creature before you. CEO_Kasen is a great comedic writer and is responsible for much of the darkly comic tone that Starlight sets. I was a bit too grim-dark and we had disagreements about how people would respond to that. In the end, he was right about lightening up a bit. When he left to pursue work and college, I did my best to keep his style alive in the later chapters.

If you get the chance to read Princess Celestia and Princess Luna Eat A Hot Pepper, you'll get a decent idea how poorly I was forming sentences back then.

As to what is next? No idea. I don't know that there's any sense in taking a break from writing, though there is a bottle of very good scotch that was waiting for the word 'fin'. Not sure if I'll return to this universe at any point.

So, I want to put a thing out there.

Starlight Over Detrot is now yours. Anyone who wants to can use the characters, settings, locales, events, and anything else they want. This is your 'blanket permission'. Do anything with it you like. RPGs, porn, audio-books, amusing art. Anything. I'd appreciate a credit, but you don't have to.

Yours, with love,

-Chessie

Good to know you're well! Eagerly anticipating the chapter(s)!

When the final chapter drops I'm giving the whole story another readthrough.

I'm gonna be sad to see it finished but congrats! I can't imagine spending almost a whole decade on a story, especially one as amazing as Starlight. It's really been a pleasure keeping up with this project and I'm sure I'm gonna reread it at least ten more times.

Wow.

July 2012 I read this story for the first time and left my 2 cent review. Time is a fickle thing and I remember leaving off after the trio met some sea serpent.

Honestly, life got in the way and I just havent had the time to finish this, now massive, story when it was being written. But, as luck would have it, I will be without internet soon and what better way to pass time than reading a good story? Im going to attempt to download this so that I may finally give you, and CEO Kasen, justice and finish this tale.

I eagerly await your next creation.

I'll have it uploaded for you within a couple of days. Why are you going to be without internet?

It's been a heck of a journey and while I'm sad it has to end, as all good journeys do; I'm excited to see what you come up with next!

I hope to have my pass through the chapter done by noon this calendar day. Fairly optimistic, barring unexpected events. :)
(Though, you know, on the plus side, the downstairs shower's sudden hot water leak did lead us to discovering the water heater's (apparently unrelated) fuel oil leak much sooner than we might otherwise have done! So that could have been worse.)

For those of you who read these words posted by Chessie and don’t know what your tasting, this is the taste of sorrow. As all goods things come to this in time, this journey was always going to end one day. Gratitude is my strongest emotion for the roller coaster slash river we have been riding this whole time. Periods of normalcy and joy pierced by terror and evil. Our primary hero who we began with as the hero no one would choose to become the only choice anyone would consider.

This is a story of many sorrows, many sacrifices and a great deal of growth and all of these will echo for generations to come. It’s a great story.

Im in the military and will be deployed soon. Last time I didnt download enough books, but your story should last me for quite a while.

This has been an amazing ride and I'm excited to see where it ends up. All the foreshadowing and twists and turns but no shocking twists for shock sake. It has mature topics (the main character is a homicide detective) but nothing has been handled with grace. It's been laugh out loud funny and tears in eyes sorrow. One of those stories where I honestly cannot decide who my favorite character is because they are all so well rounded and human. (Well, pony, but you know what I mean)

And such a rich world that has been created. While it's in the future and full of technological changes and more mature themes it still feels like the Equestria be know and love. It feels like a real place you could go visit.

This is a story I would love to have in Print and placed on my bookshelf in a place of honor. It's been really inspiring to reread through and find the plot threads woven throughout. It makes me want to improve and polish my own writing.

Thank you and I'm excited, once again, to see where this crazy ride ends.

Well done. It's late, I have multiple projects due, and I'm tired. But I dropped everything to read the latest chapter.

When I see that green Complete tag, I'll write something fitting to convey how much I adore this story. And I'll get to waiting for what you get up to next. Until then, space detective. :rainbowdetermined2:
