A couple of weeks ago, I got an Archive of Our Own account.

Two days ago, I started writing my first story for it.

I think, given what has happened recently, and given what I've been told via PM from a few older users, I think it might be best if I step away from this platform. Maybe for good, maybe not. I'll decide by the end of next week.

    Deja Vu

Basically, I'm late because my computer shut down and I lost all my progress. I would've said something earlier, but the last time I made such a post.... well, we all know how that went. Everything should be up by tomorrow.

Notch growled, quite uncharacteristically for the god. "What the fuck do you want?"

Herobrine smirked, then held out his arms to his sides.

    "Well, it's quite simple Notch.

Steve stumbled, the strength leaving his body as he slowly began to teeter backwards.

Discord's evil laugh suddenly sounded faint and echo-y.

The Crafter's Speech · 5:42am Jan 15th, 2021

(Found the clip in the YouTube recommendations. Couldn't help myself.)

Following the Invasion of Canterlot

Chrysalis looked at the table, which sat in the middle of the room. On one side, sat a two levers, with a sign sitting between them. On the sign were the words Truth with an arrow pointing to the left lever, and Consequences with an arrow pointing to the right. The other side of the table was a mirror image, with the same two levers and the sign designating said levers.

The Changeling queen looked the table over, a hard look on her face.

"It's no good Chrysalis." Rainbow Dash spoke from a nearby corner of the room. She was flanked by two big changelings, who didn't say a word. "You can't win."

Chrysalis glared over at the prismatic mare. "I don't care."

The sound of footsteps.

All four occupants of the room looked over at the entryway as Steve, Trench and Celestia entered the room

"Hi. Hello" The Crafter started, only for the two changelings flanking Dash to growl at him. Undeterred. he continued. "Stop this. Don't, don't even think about it. Stop it, please." He walked around the table, putting his hands on it. "Let me take the levers away. We'll forgive. We'll forget. And there will be no war.

Please

"No." Chrysalis replied, glaring.

He sighed. "Damn it."

Chrysalis turned to look at Celestia, who glared right back before walking around to the left side set of levers. "Steve, which lever do I switch? Which one, Truth or Consequences?"

"Truth or Consequences?" Chrysalis asked as well, staring pointedly at Steve, as if trying to will the answers from him.

Steve slowly looked from ruler to ruler. He took a breath.

"This is the moment we've all been waiting for. 'Make your mind up time' if you will. Celestia, one of those levers will activate a series of magical projections me and a friend set up, detailing exactly what happened to the changelings, what you did to them. The other, detonates a series of explosives placed in the crystal caverns below the castle, which would send the castle and most of Canterlot crumbling into a ravine the likes of which you've never seen." He turned to the Changeling queen. "Chrysalis, one lever will unmask every changeling in Canterlot. The other" He grinned. "cancels their ability to shape-shift. It'll make them ponies forever."

Trench looked on, watching the interaction in front of him.

Chrysalis looked down at the switches, expressionless.

Steve continued. "There are safeguards, beyond safeguards. This is very important to me, as it should be for you."

"This is wrong." Chrysalis murmured.

"Hah!" Steve laughed humorlessly. "No it isn't."

"You are responsible for all of this."

"No I'm not." He replied, shrugging.

"Yes."

"No."

"Yes! You made this situation happen. This is your fault."

"No it's not. It's your fault."

"I had to do what I've done."

"So did I."

Silence fell for a moment, Chrysalis knowing the Crafter had gotten her for the moment. However, after a moment, she continued.

"We've been treated like monsters."

"So was I."

"We were left to fend for ourselves."

The Crafter shrugged again. "Eh, so's everyone."

"It's not fair."

"Ooooooooooh, so that's it. It's not fair." Steve began to walk around the table, coming up on the other side. "Oh, I didn't realize that it was not fair." He put both hands on the table. "Well, you know what? My crops didn't grow fast enough, and, and I don't have my own personal butler."

She growled. "Those things don't equate."

"Maybe, but those things happened, they're facts." He shook his head. "No. You just want cruelty to beget cruelty. You're not better than people who were cruel to you. You're just a whole bunch of new cruel people. A whole bunch of new, cruel people, being cruel to some other people, who'll end up being cruel to you. It's a cycle! One that doesn't end, unless people are prepared to forgive. Why don't you break the cycle?"

Chrysalis scoffed. "Why should we?"

Steve sighed, head hanging for a moment before coming back to look at her. "Tell me. What is it that you actually want?"

Chrysalis looked at Celestia for a moment, then to Trench, before returning her gaze to Steve. "War."

"Ah." He chuckled, rubbing his face with a hand. "Alright." He walked away, only taking a few steps before turning back around and gesturing to the Changeling queen.

"Tell me, when this war is over, when -- when you have the land free from ponies, where ponies are nothing more than food, what do you think it's going to be like?" He question was met with silence, which only spurred the Crafter on. "Do you know? Have you thought about it? Have you given it any consideration?" He stomped forward and pointed at the lever. "Because you're very close to getting what you want. What's it going to be like? Paint me a picture. Are you going to live in houses?

No reply.

"Do you want people to go to work? What, will there be holidays? Oh! Will there be music?" He grinned, though there was no joy behind the smile. "Do you think people will be allowed to play violins? Who will make the violins? Well?"

No answer. Chrysalis simply continued to glare while the other occupants watched.

"Oh, You don't actually know, do you?" Steve inquired, despite already knowing the answer. "Because, just like every other tantruming child in history, Chrysalis, you don't actually know what you want. So, let me ask you a question about this brave new world of yours. When you've killed all the bad guys, and it's all perfect and just and fair, when you have finally got it exactly the way you want it, what are you going to do with the people like you? The troublemakers. How are you going to protect your glorious revolution from the next one?

"We'll win." She replied, slightly smug.

Steve's brows raised in surprise. "Oh, will you? Well maybe -- maybe you will win. But nobody wins forever. The wheel just keeps turning. So, come on. Break the cycle."

"Then why are you still talking?"

He grinned. "Because I'm trying to get you to see. And I'm almost there."

She glared at the Crafter, a look of distaste of her face. "Do you know what I see, Steve? Two levers. Two levers with everything I need." She put a hoof on the table. "A 50% chance.

"For us, too." Celestia spoke, mirroring the changeling's actions.

Steve looked to either ruler before jumping up in false excitement. "And we're off! Fingers on levers! Are you feeling lucky?" He pointed to Chrysalis, then to Celestia. "Are you ready to play the game? Who's going to be quickest? Who's going to be the luckiest?"

"This is not a game!" Celestia shouted angrily.

"No, it's not a game, Princess, and I mean that most sincerely." The Crafter replied, grinning.

"Why are you doing this?" Chrysalis asked.

"Yes, I'd like to know that too." Celestia agreed. "You set this up -- why?

"Because it's not a game, Celestia!" Steve replied, grin gone, replaced with a frustrated and angry expression. He pointed at the levers. "This is a scale model of war! Every war, ever fought, right there in front of you! Because it's always the same. When you take that first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die! You don't know who's children are going to scream and burn." He began took a step back. "How many hearts will be broken!? How many lives shattered!? How much blood will spill until everybody does what they're always going to have to do from the very beginning -- sit down and talk!?" He took a breath, rubbing his face with his hands. He walked over to Chrysalis, voice displaying just how weary Steve was. "Listen to me, listen. I just -- I just want you to think. Do you know what thinking is? It's just a fancy word for changing your mind.

"I will not change my mind.

"Then you will die stupid. Alternatively, you could step away from that box. You could walk right out of that door, and you could stand your army down.

"No." The changeling firmly stated. "I'm not stopping this, Steve. I started it, I will not stop it. You think they'll let me go after what I've done?"

He grit his teeth in frustration. "Oh, you're all the same, you screaming kids, you know that? 'Look at me, I'm unforgivable.' Well here's the unforeseeable, I forgive you." Silence settled over the room for a moment following his words. He took a breath. "After everything you've done, after the people you've hurt, after it all. I forgive you."

She looked at him in silence for a second before shaking her head. "You don't understand. You will never understand."

Steve chuckled, pointing to himself. "I don't understand? " He glanced around the room before looking back at Chrysalis. "Are you kidding? Me? Of course I understand." His grin disappeared. "I mean, do you call this a war, this little thing? This is not a war. I fought in bigger wars than you will ever know! I did worse things than you could ever imagine, and when I close my eyes-!" He trailed off, turning way from the two rulers. The rooms occupants, even the simple changeling soldiers, looked at the Crafter with sadden expressions. He sighed, then turned back. "I hear more screams than anyone could ever be able to count!" He glared at Chrysalis. "And do you know what you do with all that pain? Huh? Shall I tell you where you put it?" He clenched a fist. "You hold it tight... Til it burns your hand. And you say this -- no one else will ever have to live like this. No one else will ever have to feel this pain. Not on my watch."

Chrysalis stared at the Minecraftian, shocked beyond belief at his words. Meanwhile, Celestia simply stares at the two levers for a moment before dropping her hoof and stepping away.

Steve closed his eyes, then nodded.

"Thank you."

So, guess who's making shitty corssover scenes instead of working on the actual chapter? Me!
Not to worry, I'll be posting the next chapter soon, I just saw the video clip of this scene today and couldn't pass up the oppertunity.

look up "12th doctor speech."
First thing to come up.

One of the greatest speeches the Doctor ever made. Because it’s so close to both of his hearts.
One that Steve can relate with so very much.

I approve, I've actually written something similar not too long ago for my recent story. But never released it.

You accidentally left a "Doctor" in. Which, prior to the comments, was the only way I figured out where this was from.

Crap. Where did I leave it?

I one hundred percent coukd see Steve doing that.

Hooves on levers, they don't have hands, or fingers, just hooves and magic..... Also, no boxes, just levers...
