...Today has been utterly embarassing for me as an American, to watch as our capital was stormed by lunatics and looters seeking to disrupt our very system.

Now, let it be said I am a cisgender white male and this entire mob was made up of cisgender white males. Y'all disgusted your own gender today, and I hope you're happy.

Now, to the rest of America... We need to be better. We need to be better, to build bridges and not walls between ourselves. Einstein once said "There are only two things that are infinite: the universe and human stupidity. And I'm not so sure about the universe."

I want to prove him wrong. US Politics are fucked, we know this. They shouldn't be, we don't need this US VS Them mentality, and I shall say right now if I spot anyone trying to start something in comments your comment will be deleted. I don't want you to prove me wrong. Democrats, Republicans, we're all the same in the end aren't we? Human beings, struggling through life. We shouldn't be so divided. We need to be kind, we need to be decent. Because it's in the end, the right thing to do. The country is 244 years old, going on 245 and if we're not careful it won't make 250. I want to see it make 250.

People are terrified of what's coming next, really. Again, we need to be kind, decent. We don't want to be terrified for what comes the next day. So please... let us help each other.

There's this article I read, very powerful and very poignant. I think the end sums up just how beaten and broken we were today.

None of this is good for the country. Tearing down democracy, taking America to the brink of anarchy, attempting a bloodless coup on the Capitol is a new nadir, a pathetic and disturbing decrescendo to a horrible era of self-destruction.

Whatever happens today, I know I'll never forget these horrifying images and the overwhelming feeling of despair that accompanied them. It's a very sad day for America -- one that I deeply hope doesn't end in tragedy. Though, perhaps, it already has.

We have a situation in this country where city/urban people believe they can pass laws and judgement on rural people "because they are uneducated rubes", and on the flip side you have rural people who view city people as "socialist pigs".

The two sides will NEVER meet in the middle, because there is no way for them to understand each other. You can not force your moral views on others, no mater the side and that is something that both sides fail to see because of the divide of social and economic bases. A city person will never understand what farmers need, and farmers will never understand city needs.
