    My Resignation

It is with great reluctance I must announce that I am discontinuing Technology is Magic and The Nightmare Technomancer. My tagline on my profile is “Always enjoy writing or your stories will suffer as you do.” Well, I’m just not enjoying it anymore and I know that if I force myself to continue, the story will suffer for it. I will be the first to admit that I made mistakes while writing this. I’m

Should Pixel die in the rewrite of Chapter 27?

Okay chapter 27 and 28 weren't as well received as I hoped (especially chapter 28). I'll readily admit I made some mistakes with them so I'm going to rewrite them in order to fix those mistakes. In the new version, Pixel will be the one to be shredded by Natura instead of Gerhardt. So should she die in chapter 28 while Gerhardt is trying to fix her? Or should she live but suffer some sort

    Demigod experiments question.

So I'm thinking in the next chapter I'll have Gerhardt conduct an experiment in an attempt to use what he learned from scanning Celestia and Luna to use necromancy to create the soul of a demigod. I have a few different ideas of how this could possibly go, but I wanted to ask what you all think first. Should he fail? Should he succeed? If he succeeds should it move on to the afterlife as he

    Time skip?

I'm having a bit of trouble coming up with filler to pad out the story, as you may have been able to tell by the past couple of chapters. So I'm thinking of having a bit of a time skip a couple of months ahead all the way to winter. Would you guys mind if I did so? I mean if you don't want me to, I can keep trying my best to come up with a bit more filler. After all a season only lasts about

Question for you guys about the golem Gerhardt's building. · 11:19pm Jan 3rd, 2021

Basically, I would like to know if you guys want Gerhardt to build it to have any, all, or none of the biological magic of the ponies and if he should build it with them to begin with or if they should be added as upgrades over time.

Since very few people actually respond to my questions in the comments here's a link to a strawpoll I created for it instead: Strawpoll link

After re-reading the rules I didn't see anything saying I couldn't use strawpolls, but if there is a rule against it and I just missed it then just tell me and I will gladly remove this particular blog post. I try my best not to break any rules if I can avoid it.

mmm, I think the golem should not have the biological ability of ponies with magic, it would not make sense, as long as it can use magic enough, what it should have, is the knowledge of the three types of magic of the ponies and their biology.
Now, Gerhardt should update himself with the knowledge of Alicorn biology and magic, to propel his soul and magic to demi-god levels

I still think that Gerhardt should enter into a love relationship with Celestia, and to have the complete package also with Moon

author friend, when does the next chapter arrive? I love your fic

I'm still in the middle of writing it, so I don’t really know off the top of my head. Still trying to figure out how to write it without having too much of it be time skips since a lot of what Gerhardt does is spend time working in his lab and reading about him working on building one or two particular things would get really boring really fast.

Also, uh... You do realize that Goldy, the sentient golem that Gerhardt built for Fluttershy, has pegasus magic to allow it to fly, right? Gerhardt has already scanned both Twilight and Rainbow Dash to figure out how unicorn and pegasus magic functions so he could replicate it via augmentations since it is related to their biology. Thus how he would have preferred to fix Scootaloo’s wings, by replacing them with augmentations that are

Because the golem created for Fluttershy was specifically a pet, but Gerhardt's golem would become his lab assistant, I consider sticking to the magic that he has more experience is what he would give a golem. ..what form would it have? Equine? It would make sense, considering the request for small clothes, but I can't think that beyond those who know him closely, they would be happy with a sentient golem in equine form, I think they could accept it more in human form ... or maybe I think too much LOL

It will have a human form, hands are extremely useful for handling tools after all. The only extra features it might have would be having wings on its back. He could adjust the unicorn magic augmentations so the golem’s hands would be able to serve as the horns instead of it actually having a horn on its head. If he did give it unicorn magic he would probably also use necromancy to ensure the conditions present during the formation of its soul would make it a mage like him so that if anything happened to its hands it could still cast magic just fine.

I realize that may sound redundant but he could wire the golem’s hands to what would essentially be a magic battery, which would allow it to cast magic with that battery acting as the power source instead of the golem having to use the arcane energy reserves of its own soul. So it would effectively have two reserves of arcane energy with which to cast spells instead of one. That wouldn't make it any stronger of a mage but it would allow it to cast more spells for a longer period of time then other mages.

Regardless, I definitely see your logic. Why would he give his lab assistant anything more than it strictly needed? That being the ability to use magic in the same way that Gerhardt does so it can help him build machines. He does tend to focus quite heavily on efficiency, thus the reason he himself lacks so many basic human abilities since they're unnecessary to him.

That being said, having a lab assistant with those abilities could potentially prove useful for various experiments with Equestrian magic. Plus giving it these traits in the first place would serve as an experiment in its own right to ensure the augmentations work the way he expects them too. The fact that Goldy could fly was good evidence that at least the pegasus augmentations work correctly, but in science it is always a good idea to double check by running the experiment multiple times to see if the results are consistent. Though perhaps he wouldn’t think these things would be worth the extra effort and expense to add those augmentations too considering how unnecessary they would be in almost every other scenario.

There's pretty good grounds both for and against him giving the golem such features. So your point is entirely valid.

:)

If it wields the magic of all three pony tribes, would that make it an alicorn? Because that would be f***ing hilarious.

*edit.
Nevermind, just went to the strawpoll link.
