The thing about Princess Luna is that she is at once both deeply ethereal and intensely "human."
Her flaws, her jealousy, her sadness - they somehow make her more divine, amplifying the mercurial nature of the Moon, ever changing in its phase.
Paradoxically, her calm, collected dedication to mastering her own Jungian shadow - to practicing dream magic - to spelunking into the deep spiritual mysteries of the night - they somehow make her more approachable. Compassionate. One of us.
The Full Moon was especially powerful last night. Princess Luna made that happen. Because she loves us, and is awesome.

She's like a Greco-Roman deity without all the nasty implications and horrific actions towards mortals.
So basically, she's like Hades.
Wonderful observations about Best Princess, Sprocket! Though I don't think of her as a deity, she definitely has a commanding, powerful and firm presence. Yet she is kind, understanding and empathetic. She understands the spirit and soul of everypony.
