R.I.P. Alex Trebek · 6:04pm Nov 8th, 2020
2020 is the gift that keeps on giving, taking yet another beloved legend and icon. Alex Trebek, the host of the incarnation of Jeopardy! since its debut in 1984 died today, peacefully at home with his family. He was 80 years old.
Alex never missed an episode of the syndicated game-show even as he recently battled pancreatic cancer that had progressed to stage 4. Interestingly, Alex had been born in Canada and pursued a career in journalism before leaving for Hollywood in 1973 and taking up various gameshow hosting roles for about a decade.
Trebek went public with his cancer diagnosis following surgery in December of 2017, continuing to serve in the series for as long as he possibly could. His departure will almost certainly be noticed as the show he helped to reboot will have to continue without him somehow.
Fuuuuuuuuck...
First Sean Connery, and now Alex. And since Burt Reynolds passed a while back, it seems that the infamous Celebrity Jeopardy parody skits on SNL (back in the 90's) are fully dated. May they all rest in peace.
How unfortunate.
Man can this year get any worse---wait! Nevermind! I don't wanna jinx what's left of the month or so we have left!
May he rest in peace.

Rest In Peace, Alex. There is no Jeopardy without you. Hope you're doing your thing upstairs.
Ouch. Jeopardy was one of my four favorite game shows (the other three being Let's Make A Deal, the Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune) and I AM DEFINITELY feeling bad for Alex's family (as well as Jeopardy's other fans). The ONLY upside is that Alex's suffering is now over (and that is only a VERY SMALL upside at best).
Wonder who they are going to find to take over as the new host of Jeopardy (after the Covid mess is taken care of, naturally).
jeopardy fan?
5395730 Not really, but I have watched some episodes from time to time.
Both Connery and Trebek weren't just good entertainers, but living institutions.
