Behind the Scenes: A Hint of Peach · 5:53pm Aug 23rd, 2020
Hello there, everyone! This story unfortunately marks the beginning of my slowdown as I enter the new college semester. That said, I thought I'd offer some insight on this little piece of work!
- This story was written in 2 weeks! That might be slow for some writers, but for me, it's pretty incredibly damn fast. Most stories take a minimum of one month from start to finish, often longer, though you don't often notice this since I bounce between more than one draft at a time. I had to impose strict "X words a day" limits to get it out and edited in time. One thing I learned by doing that is that it's okay to puke words, as long as you refine them after! (I knew that already, but not in my subconscious mind. Now I do!)
- For those curious...no, this isn't the promised Donation Drive sequel. I can understand how one might think that, though, given the reoccurrence of a certain Filly Scout. Truth is, I just like Filly Scouts. A lot. Expect more stories with them! 
- This story almost went in a different direction, involving Peach having to serve customers while Ginger Snap secretly eats Peach Fuzz out under the stand (because Eat A Peach Day, ha). This was tossed due to the extra time I'd need to make everything work, as well as not being the dynamic I quite wanted to explore.
- I actually had to eat a raw peach for probably the first time in my life (that I can remember) to get an idea for the taste! Didn't like it very much, but I was able to get the idea of what might make one like it, enough to write it down.
- Following the first point, I think I might have learned some good tricks to unstick myself from writer's block when it comes up. I'll have less time to work on stories but might be more productive, so things might actually even out. We'll see!
- When planning the concept of an "Eat A Peach Day" story, one other concept I toyed with was having all three background fillies with "Peach" in their name (the other two being Peachy Pie and Peachy Petal) in a (peach) pie-eating contest that goes awry when they manage to knock each other over, and one decides she wants to eat a "different" kind of pie until they all dissolve into a ball of filly cunnilingus under the table. But being that threesomes are hard to write quickly, this was scrapped. Maybe I'll revisit the idea, though. We'll see
