So for Welcome to Distopia · 10:57pm May 24th, 2020

This is the last day to put in your vote for Noodle Dragon's new form.

Currently we're at 11 to 10 for the Doe if my count is correct.

Also, the change is happening, we just want to make sure people get a vote in.

Why change it? You could use this as a moment of growth for her, where she would have to embrace her form and the things that might come with it. In any case, if it has to happen, might as well make her the doe. It would be rather funny.

Why not something different Like a yak

We posted the info for the two choices already, are you saying they aren't different enough? Furthermore, the change is one that reflects Lorraine's personality and the two options presented fit her the best, especially given the fact I designed them with the character in mind.

This is a moment of growth, she's finally taking her own health and well being into account after spending nearly three months enduring the shit piled onto her. She is not a heroic character. She has literally hurt herselftrying to accept her current form, should she continue to do so? Of course not.

Staying a Luck Dragon will not end well.

For one, the doe it seems is just to facilitate pairing her with Alastor and attempt to create more reasons for them to be together than just her Fan-Crush and his onsessive infatuation. For that reason I'm going to place my vote with the hound.

I never saw the other post so I am lacking information

Read the authors of chapter 10.

Ahh okay thanks

I vote Doe

That wasn't what I had in mind when I came up with the Flora Doe but ok?

The whole idea of the fic is that the universe runs on harem anime logic and our two main characters are doing their own thing and treating people like actual people. An actual herd/harem would be after significant character development and not because two characters have a crush on each other. We are chucking real world logic and common sense at an anime...

Which is one reason I completely love you're story, and here's a question for you, which would be the best in long run, flower doe, or shadow hound

5268567
From a design standpoint I came up with the Shadow Hound first but both do work in the long run.

5268569
I think doe might be more fitting for her, I'll vote flower doe

5268585
Thanks for voting and for the positive feedback. I really appreciate it.

I want to change my vote to Doe. The hound sounds like it might exacerbate the mentality that got her to this point in the first place.

...its not? Oh, well that's good. It seemed to me that the story was trying to push them together for reasons that exist outside the story rather than compatability, which felt weird. Put me back down as "neutral" then.

For context, both forms follow the same theme- The duality of Lorraine's personality. The doe was designed as a nod to her more tomboyish tendancies being masked by her politeness whereas the Shadow Hound was made to highlight her eagerness to please her friends and her struggle with showing vulnerability.

Remember, Alastor became smitten with her based on her behavior not her appearance. This was outright stated in his introductory chapter. The Radio Buck gives zero shits and Lorraine just wants to feel comfortable in her own skin. And yes, we will be showcasing that soon, so sorry if this was a bit wordy.

That right there is something that probably shoukd have been more evident because I totally didn't pick that up at all before now.

As for Alastor he didn't really come across as "smitten" until recently. He seemed a bit lecherous and not really caring about her, or that she's already with someone, or caring for who she's with. Only recently has he graduated from being unlikable to being kinda a friend. Also, if he actually loved her John would have felt it.

Good point, and thank you for answering. Was rather confused.

5268669
Would John say something though? Plus Alastor is a demon, the entire reason he's there because he acted without caring about the consequences, of course he comes across as lecherous. He's learning from Lorraine's behavior while she, in turn, is trying to figure out what needs to be done to clear Alastor's sentence, she was ordered to look after him. It's a redemption arc first, the "romance" subplot is played for laughs as both of them know a relationship- even if John would be ok with it- wouldn't be the best thing for them at the moment. It won't stop Alastors shenanigans though.

As for the first point, there's only so much we can focus on and we tried to follow the rule of "Show, don't tell". Maybe we were too subtle. Another interpretation of the doe is that Lorraine finally accepts the fact that in some areas, she is weak but carries an underlying strength? The thought process behind the Shadow Hound was obvious, she wants to do good, which for is helping her friends. Besides, the transformation won't be until a few chapters so no matter the final, there's room to explore more of Lorraine's character as Nightmare Night approaches, I dunno.

Both forms boiled down to "These forms allow her to tackle life her way."

It feels like people are reading too deeply into things, we honestly just wanted the readers to have say on which of the two options Lorraine turns into. It's stressed me out but I suppose I can't complain so I've done my best trying to explain.

5268683
How were you confused?

5268688
I was confused on her path of growth. By embracing some fact or another a character cannot resolve, they grow. I was just confused as to how her changing and getting away from the problem entirely would assist in her growth, but I had forgotten that getting away from a problem is also an option. Sorry for bothering you.

5268695
Getting away from the problem sums up Lorraine's mindset perfectly.

You're not a bother at all, your concerns were polite and I enjoy replying to people, even if I am a bit drained from having to do so all week.

You're more than welcome to comment on Welcome to Distopia.
