Finished It · 9:41am Apr 17th, 2020
I finished the prologue of "The Shadow Queen" on 2/6/2020 at 12:16 PM, PST, but I didn't post it on this site until February 10th because it is based on the notes I helped to work on with another writer in his story. I wanted to work on this project with him, but that is precisely when he shut down and stopped talking to everyone online, as far as I know.
There is lots of reasons for it. Some I might not even know.
I wasn't certain if I was going to post this story at all, but it grabbed me and demanded my attention almost suddenly. I think it was only the previous day before i wrote the first draft of the prologue when I felt like I had to do this. It even distracted me from writing another story which I'm not sure if I'm going to finish. It was going to be a sequel to "My Little Detour" which is, itself, a sequel to "Sky Dancer", but so few read "My Little Detour" that I've lost heart in its sequel even though I did have big plans for it.
"Sky Dancer" is still a much longer story, but I finished that one in less than a month.
As for "The Shadow Queen", I paced myself much more this time. Generally, I did only a chapter a day which ranged between 3 to 24 pages per chapter. I'll leave you all to discover how many chapters there are in this story ultimately.
Now, as of 4/17/2020 at 2:02 AM PST, I finished the last chapter of "The Shadow Queen".
It's such a relief to get it out of my system, and even more so that I finally finished another novel. Not since "Sky Dancer" have I ever done that. I wrote preliminary notes on a bunch of stories and actually started two other novels during 2019, but I never finished them. i just could not find the inspiration for those stories like I had for "Sky Dancer", until now.
Until I finish a story, i always have to worry if it will stall for a long hiatus or even indefinitely. It's happened to so many of my other stories so I know that risk always hovered over my shoulder until it's done. Now that it's done, I can breathe a sigh of relief that, finally, another one of my stories crossed the finish line.
I've learned a lot and grew as a person during this experience. I've tried a lot of new experiments with this new story and it largely seems to be paying off. Within about 2 and a half months, the most viewed chapter of "The Shadow Queen:" finally exceeded the most viewed chapter of "Sky Dancer" which, surprisingly, isn't the prologue for the latter, but i think the reason for that isn't just a matter of interest. It's because that chapter is so long that few people finish it in one go, so when they return to it over and over again, it racks up the view count for that chapter.
I don't know for sure what other project will strike me next. Right now I'm open to reception. I'm helping a few other people edit their stories and it, too, has helped me to grow as a writer. Maybe it's also helped me to make a few new friends.
Just to be clear, I finished the story on my computer and the google docs version online. I'll continue my regular schedule of posting it gradually on fim fiction at least as much as I have before, if not more so. Right now comes the potentially eternal struggle of editing it in order to make it better, but some people in the comment section commended the fact that this story has very clean grammar. At first, I didn't know what they meant until I read a few other stories, and not just the ones I'm helping to fix.
One thing most of us have in common on this site is a passion for the show and a love of writing. I think many of you know that nagging hunger that I feel when a story needs to be told. Letting it out falls on the level of need, at least temporarily, but if ignored too long . . . it can fade in some of us.
So keep reading and keep writing. We all have our own little story to tell, and in the meantime, it's time to celebrate my new achievement!: 🎈🎈
Yay! And I will keep reading all the way through. I'm really enjoying it, every moment. Thank you!
