Adventures on Hiatus · 10:57pm April 8th
Yesterday, August 7th 2024 (the day before the eclipse) I posted the last chapter of "Adventures of the TARDIS" for an arc I completed, and that was with some struggle. Throughout much of the year of 2023, my muse just shut down because of some changes I was going through in my personal life. Namely, I was about to move for the first time in 20 years. That was the first and possibly last time I've ever been settled in one place for so long in this life. Not only that, the next place I moved to is a place I have to be alone at. There's freedom in that, but also a little scary and certainly a big change for me. Some anxiety ran in the back of my mind and took precedence for so long that for the longest time I thought the story was dead. That sometimes happens when a story goes dormant for so long. I've only posted one story online with a "cancelled" status so far and I outright chose not to post other stories that didn't get complete because I know the readers, as well as myself, will never get an ending to it. I'm not comfortable posting incomplete stories anymore.
But this one eventually gained some progress after I settled in my new place for a few months. Getting back to it was like exercising an emaciated muscle but, once I got going, it got easier and easier to press on. Now I'm not only seven chapters deep into the next story arc, and possibly another after I finish this blog (because I had ideas for it about a week ago). I even have some ideas for the next 2 arcs, especially the next one. Visions for that are especially clear. Not all the details yet and that's typical of my work now, but enough that I have some reasonable degree of confidence that I can finish it.
Who knows how long this one will keep going? It doesn't have a premise that sets itself up for an ending that much. I know, based on the events I wrote years ago in first posted fanfiction novel on this website, "Skydancer, the First Flying Unicorn", which has characters that this story is on, that Feather Wind, Stern Wing, and Vision will only be traveling in the TARDIS for two years. There'll be with the Doctor himself for longer than that, though, because they were all on a particular world and time for several years on that adventure alone.
Point is that gives me a rough idea how this story will end for some of it's characters, but not all. This story started another plot point I didn't expect when I first wrote it, and that is the introduction to the pony version of the Time War. Having experience with this in the past and forewarning now, the Doctor in this story wants to shape the outcome more than he did before. His plans for it can honestly spawn a whole universe full of ideas complete with their own stories and main characters. In short, this is ending up much bigger than I expected and probably something I may never complete on my own in this lifetime.
That said, I'd be interested if anyone else wanted to add their two cents into the mix. Their own list of canon or OC characters who have keys to their own TARDIS and work closely, indeed network, with a fleet of other allies who all have a unified goal: to reshape the Time War into something more peaceful, to protect time from those who abuse it, and just explore to acquire more knowledge for fun.
Adventures in the TARDIS first posted on this site since February 4th, 2023. Since then I posted a chapter a week for every single week for over a year until now. I don't think I'll complete the next arc in time to hold that schedule so I listed this story on hiatus until I complete the next arc. That includes editing it to a reasonable degree. So, for me, I'm working on it without the pressure of time limits anymore. Just know that when I finally do resume posting the first chapter of the next arc, you'll eventually be able to read at least the completion of it. A full story with enough of an ending to it to warrant resuming the posts.
Another change I've made is I lifted up the story's rating from "E" to "T" as a result of some events that took place in the last arc I posted. There are some gruesome scenes in there and perhaps I should have done this ever since Part 9: of the last arc, "Welcome to the Jungle". While I never said it outright, the ponies there do encounter a T-Rex and it does result in some falsities so perhaps I should have lifted the story to "T" back then. 🤷Oh well. At least it is done now and I don't anticipate for the rating to lift any further than this. Doctor Who, the half the source material for this fic, can get pretty intense but honestly I think being in the MLP universe does tame it a bit. The Doctor certainly thinks so and he aims to keep it that way.
Anyway, I just wanted to give a head's up about the progress of this story for those who are interested. If you have questions, comments, or any kind of feedback then let me know.
That's... a lot. Altough i couldn't get behind this story, it is certainly of high quality and i'm sure fans of both The Doctor and mlp would love this, as always real life comes first, if you are not ok with whatever is happening it reflects on other parts of your life, namely writting. Take the time you need to either rest or get your bearings. Stay strong and at least i'm rooting for you
