Author's Quarterly Update: Spring 2020 · 11:31pm Mar 27th, 2020
Well, things sure have gotten... interesting lately. But there's little point in rehashing what's going on the world - we're here for horsewords, not news and I couldn't contribute anything that isn't already said elsewhere. All I can really say is that I'm well enough and life goes on. Now, as for those horsewords...
Shorts: I hit my self-imposed target of six shorts in the first quarter, though it was helped along by the four (!) contests that ended at the start of March. I'm of varied opinion of them - I'm quite satisfied with Bowl Cuts Are For Heroes, And He Had A Great Fall and Stand Firm, but the others fell short of what I wanted out of them. (I originally didn't like Bowl Cuts either, but it's grown on me since publish.) I'm going to be aiming again for the same target, so we'll see how things go!
Contests: At current, I'm only lined up to be in one current contest - GMBlackjack's Depth In Innocence. I'm sure some others will come around, but I'm probably not hopping into any of the others currently taking place.
Ongoings: First off, I do currently have one Incomplete on my roster - House Of Lies. Unfortunately it's probably going to be hanging for a little while as it undergoes a very severe rewrite. The short version is that after completing the initial writing and doing the first pass, I realized that while I had intended to write a fluffy semi-romance about a changeling finding their identity, I had ended up writing a barely-veiled screed about racism. Which has a time and a place, but is very not what I was trying to write. So currently it's on the side burner for deep reworking.
Back on the main topic, both of my intended long stories after finishing Glow In The Dark are currently also off the table. Unfortunately both that got mentioned in my last blog (a Mailmare Luna/Derpy buddy comedy and a SunFlower relationship fic) are stuck in the same state: I've got a basic concept, a couple of vignettes and absolutely nothing that resembles a proper story structure. Both are still on my map but are paused until I can get something that is an actual damn story out of them.
What is an actual story is the next long-form story I'm working on. An Applejack/Tempest adventure piece, it should be ready for publish shortly. I'm mostly sitting on it to get a little bit more of a writing cushion and to think of a non-crappy title. Expect to see that one hit the new box in the first week of April.
Beyond that - thank you all for reading, and I hope you continue to enjoy and are entertained by my offerings.
