Writng Delay - Good Reason · 3:16am Mar 26th, 2020
So, yeah. Was going to be working more on chapters for John from tomorrow when things calmed down a bit for me. Then the virus threw a spanner at me. Surprisingly it was made of foam rubber. And now people will ask, "Tael, what in the world are you on about?"
Well, gather 'round and I'll tell you. My mother has been in need of cataract surgery and all of it was going fine and on track with one to be early next week and the other at the end of April. Then the virus struck and restrictions came in. All good, we are not hit by the virus itself. Been playing it safe and been rather isolated to help my mother get to that first date. I'm her driver/carer.
Then harder restrictions kicked in this week which have caused lower category elective surgeries to be cancelled. My mother, due to other eye complications, was re-categorised into one of the higher groups, so next week would still go ahead. All good. Then a phone call came while I'm shopping for her today... They want to pull the surgery from the end of April to tomorrow, they just need to finalise things. So, um, yay?
So, yeah. Not only not cancelled by the virus restrictions but more than likely fast-tracked. She's been worried as it had been getting worse in recent weeks/months. Just means I might be incredibly busy tomorrow instead of writing like I was planning. So, sorry about that. I really want to get to more John and friends and the characters are itching to show more to everyone. Just, medical is always my priority.
If it falls through? Well, then I will be trying to write instead.
Oddly optimistic for once,
Tael,
medical and family is always important. I wouldn't look too kindly upon anyone blaming you for that.
The story will always be there even if you can't dedicate yourself to it. In times like these, I'd probably occupy myself with just thinking about the story. It helps me feel more prepared when I do pick up that pen/keyboard. Sometimes delays can build up the hype even for the writer. After a while it can get so strong it sort of gets painful. As long as it is in your system, however, you'll know this isn't over.
The virus is disruptive all over the world, but I look upon it as merely bad weather. Do you know how the home can feel cozier when there is a downpour outside? Well, this is the time to celebrate your time with your family. Be with them during these trying times. Keep a positive outlook, and your immune system will be in tip-top shape. You might be suprised how that benfiifts everyone else around you, too.

I know. I just like keeping people informed when things change.
I currently have Boo and Cremator dancing in my head wanting my attention even though their chapter is the one after next. They really want me to get there.

okay, to me that is another sign of being a writer. When the characters talk to you directly or indirectly, it means you have something that those not of our profession/hobby have. Those who do, most can sympathize.
My mom also had cataract surgery recently. Hope it goes well.

I hope so as well. Hope it resulted in improvement for your mother's vision.
The good thing is, it is going ahead. Just on a time frame we weren't expecting. But, with many things in life, we simply have to react to the things thrown our way to try and get the best outcome.
