Long answer:
Today, I have removed the "A Deer Named John" companion piece "Coping of a Former Human" from my published stories list. I've been considering this action for a long time (years) and have finally made the move. The reason being that it doesn't easily fit with what I have planned moving forward with its group of stories. Those stories I still want to write, just they now no longer have the weight of the previous story to hang from them. Those other stories will be carried under a different
Have spent part of this week nibbling away at what could be considered the cold opening of the next chapter, which wasn't originally planned for. The fun of adjusting the end of the previous chapter. Reviewed the overall notes as well and am currently dealing with an issue which would have become a plot hole in about eight or ten chapters time so doing best to plug it before that can happen.
It is here. It is FINALLY here! Approximately two years from the date I was originally aiming for and on a date I otherwise wouldn't have but the distraction is very welcome. The new chapter is finally out of my hands!
As the author's notes say at the end of the chapter:
The draft for the next chapter, current title (MA2-C3) City Search, is finally complete. It still needs a little tidying up but, so long as major changes don't need to happen, it shouldn't be long until it is posted. If major changes do need to happen, I will post an update. The title may still change if I come up with something better before it is posted.
A fresh 500 words added to the next chapter today. First forward progress in months that wasn't scrapping and rewriting the same section over and over. Isn't perfect but that can be dealt with in the edit. Liking the feel of the chapter set up as it now stands. Still a lot more to go, but feeling like this is actual progress.
Have spent a lot of my free time this week chipping away at a few small things in the next chapter of A Deer Named John. Big goal is to fully be back into writing it next week. Just waiting for a few life appointments to be done. It has been a busy several months after mental recovery from last year.
Tael.
Update 1:
Highly likely going to have to take my laptop in for more repairs. More keys have joined the intermittent failure list making it frustrating to type anything. Worst being the space bar which now randomly ignores me. Will likely need to get the whole keyboard replaced.
I will update this post when I have further news.
Tael.
*Update*
It is fixed. Keys were a little weird at first but so many less typos now. Just trying to steal some time to write more.
Grief has been hard but is easing and isn't as crippling at random times as it had been. I am also finally through a very hectic few weeks dealing with carer issues (may even get some support soon).
I have been chipping away at the next chapter. Although, not ready yet, I can properly focus on it again.
Thank you for your patience,
Tael.
Our dog with cancer was put to sleep a short time ago. Suffered a massive seizure this evening and the act was the biggest kindness we could grant her. We have been so grateful for the extra three months we were gifted on top of her six month prognosis and gave her much love. Very missed.
