Medical Recovery is Happening! · 3:48pm Nov 18th, 2012
Hey folks,
I know a lot here don't really check my tumblr, but my medical recovery is going really well. I'm typing without pain, just an odd discomfort now. The medicine has been pretty strong and the physio has (while bending me into a pretzel) really been helping me. It'd say that at worst it shouldn't take much longer before I am told I can write safely again. I've got a new wrist supported keyboard to work with too.
I just wanted to keep you all up to date, MN7 is not long till it resumes. Chapter 16 was, before my medical problem, already roughly 25% completed. So we're well on the path!

Keep meaning to check your tumblr but never get around to it; have you considered using dictation software to write? If (god forbid) your wrist had been more badly hurt or if other circumstances stopped you from typing?

The unfortunate problem with dictation is there's a large difference between working with words and working with words through voice. It's a totally different skill set. Dictation is more for factual reporting or simply writing, crafting a story chapter in it is something that would basically reset my skill levels to almost zero. It just...feels incredibly different. I did try it once and found I was writing rubbish I'd never normally allow. I'm not one who's able to think on his feet to speak quickly. :p
If things had gone to worst case scenario, I'd likely have just done this as an audio storytelling, using youtube to simply TELL you guys the story from notes. THAT I can do pretty well, I know. It's just trying to merge writing and storytelling through voice into "writing down my voice" doesn't really work for me. So there's always a second option.
