Midnight Rising update; Feathered Hearts C&C teaser...

Hey, folks. Here’s my weekly writing update. I’m tagging this as C&C since that’s what the teaser below is about, but the blog is about both it and Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising.

Prereader verdict on new Midnight Rising chapter is in...

And unfortunately, that verdict is unanimous:

Complaints were: too meta, hard to follow, does nothing to advance the plot, and potentially makes things worse while trying to fix them.

Still waiting on Midnight Rising prereads...

Which are particularly important this time, because the first preread I got back was negative. As it came from AJ_Aficionado, whose opinions I particularly value mostly because he’s more interested in the story than the sex, I tend to give what he said about it credence but still want to hear from everyone else before I start making changes to the new chapter.

Mind changed on removing the griffon arc from Midnight Rising + teaser

After receiving pleas from multiple readers to keep the Enter the Griffon chapters in place, I have decided to do so and go with my original plan, which was to simply offer new readers the chance

    One final thing...

I have been advised by no less an authority than CHS acting Vice-Principal Ms. Cheerilee to use the upcoming Midnight Rising chapter as strictly a recap to relaunch the story, and not get into Lemon Zest until the following chapter, when I can devote a full entry to it without any split in focus. No, really. She did. You’ll see what I mean when the chapter launches, but basically, I’m

Work on Firefly resumes soon · 4:11pm Mar 2nd, 2020

I believe that is something that everyone, including my prereaders, have wanted to hear for a while. I have about 1000 words of new content already written, and this next chapter will be critical, not so much for its ending scene (which I intend to be epic) but for getting there properly and building tension for it. I promised everyone an answer as to who the biggest badass in the Equestrian military was, and you're going to get it in a scene I've been planning for some time.

Depending on how big it gets, there's a chance I'll have to break it up into two chapters and reserve the big scene for the second one, but regardless, I intend to release at least one new chapter of Best Warfic (no, I'm not humble about it) before we hit April.

For those of you unaware, the reason I haven't been writing in this story is because I thought I'd spent enough time in it last year and I owed my only other active story, Nightmare Night, some serious love. It's nearing it's climax--pun very much intended, given the subject matter--but after one or two more short (~3k wordish) chapters for its new side story, I'll put that on hiatus at least long enough to write at least two more Firefly chapters, with possible guest author chapters as well. As always, stay tuned for teasers and more info as I get deeper into it.

We all know that the biggest isn't technically in the military, but I'll be curious who the official #1 is.

:trollestia: That may or may not be correct faithful reader, I am indeed the tallest pony.

Because I’ve learned over the years it’s not that easy. Because muses are fickle things and I found that mine wanted to work on Nightmare Night for a long stretch there. And because I’ve noticed in the past if I keep alternating back and forth between stories, I have to shift mental gears repeatedly, resulting in losing focus and not performing as well on either story.

It hasn’t always happened that way, but often enough for me to take notice.

Do we? :raritywink: But yes, Celly wins the tallest pony contest, hooves and horn down.

Glad to hear it! The suspense has been killing me, and I'll definitely be interested in more details on power hierarchy.
