New story, finally · 12:27am Feb 24th, 2020
So, having written draft after draft after draft, with none of them (so far) actually seeing the light of day, and having published nothing since July other than a little EQG meta-scribble , I've finally committed my thirteenth story to paper (or, well, electrons, but anyway the first chapter is up and readable.)
Diplodocus is a story I'd had the, uh, bones of rattling around for a while - actually, it was two separate ideas for stories, but they were each missing a couple of things. The Carnegie Diplodocus skeleton was doing a tour of British museums and I went to see it, leading to a dream about the ponies supervising a dinosaur dig, which made me want to write a story about it, but I couldn't come up with a plot. Separately, I had a story about Applejack being shut out of her own house and it causing problems in her relationship with Rainbow Dash. Then, I tripped over the Sixth AppleDash Contest: Go Big or Go Home, and everything kind of coalesced into... this. A story of love, rye whiskey and dinosaurs.
The first chapter, as I said in the footnote, kind of feels like its own standalone standard-issue Cloptimist slice-of-life story in its own right, but there's more to come! This is only the second time I've ever attempted a story with more than one chapter, and the last one (Errors, also a contest entry) is still my least-viewed story of all time (though I remain really proud of it). Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this one, and sorry for being away for so long!
Nice!
