Valentine's Day Thingy · 10:02pm Feb 14th, 2020
Since I already celebrated CheesePie back in the Pinkie Pride-aversary blog, let's pick on my main OC ship, Flormato!
It's funny, really, how when I first created these guys back in 2014, I decided to impose on myself a policy of not giving Tomato an official love interest until he pulls himself together and gets some dang character development. It let Flora have some breathing room to be her own person and not just a satellite to Tomato, and let me tell you, I like her as a character on her own. I'd like to go and explore her past... if I didn't have a million ideas backed up in my brain, augh. Honestly, the best fictional couples are comprised of two people who can stand on their own as characters without clashing when they're paired up.
Like I did with CheesePie, I decided that perhaps I should give you some songs that make me think of these two and their relationship.
1) That's How You Know
Okay, the story behind this one is that way back in the early days of Tommy, I thought it'd be really funny if he was somehow pulled into this musical number by some weird idealistic girl--who eventually became his friend Flora. While Flora's since had more characterization, I still think of her pulling a confused Tomato into a musical number whenever I hear this song, because I still find it funny.
2) Falling Slowly
3) Can I Have This Dance?
4) Lucky
5) God Gave Me You
6) For the Longest Time
7) All About Soul
8) I Run to You
9) This is the Time
Confession time, I imagine Tomato singing this to Flora right before he proposes--though maybe with altered lyrics, because walking on the beach isn't a thing in Salt Lick City--the RL city's not that close to the Great Salt Lake.
10) You Snuck Your Way Right into My Heart
11) And So It Goes
12) Annie's Song
Gosh, I don't hear enough songs that I feel can portray Flora's feelings on the matter, because she does really like how stubbornly devoted Tomato can be to those he loves, that he's a hard worker, that he's a fundamentally kind pony (despite his moodiness), and that he's kinda funny. If any of you can give me some nice songs that can properly show that, I'd appreciate it.
But, anyway, here's my little appreciation for this couple. Have a Happy Valentine's Day!
And Happy Valentine's Day to you. I hope you're properly appreciated by your IRL friends. You're wonderful!
