my blogs are wack · 8:27pm Feb 5th, 2020

There's no style or consistency to them, they rarely offer anything of substance and sometimes they're very emotionally loaded and cringey

But honestly the more embarrassed I feel of certain blogs the funnier I think they're going to be to me in the future

A distant future

Very distant

Completely unrelated: I think that we all need to hold back on making our characters blush in shipping fics

Look at this boy! He's blushing. It's a very strong image, blushing, it's a surefire way to illustrate the fact that your character is embarrassed or ashamed or trying to hide their feelings in any way. I totally understand why it happens so much in romance. However

It can't be the only thing that your character does when they're embarrassed! Otherwise, you get a blog that's just two characters blushing at each other like they're bio-luminescent creatures that communicate with light

I'm completely guilty of doing this too, so don't think that this is like, a takedown of all shipping and that I'm placing myself above everyone or anything

Save your blushes! Make them really, really count, make them as powerful and meaningful as possible. Is Tempest flaunting her fine ass around Twilight in the palace halls? Have Twilight fan herself with her feathers or look away. The blushing should be saved for later, when they're on a rooftop watching the sunset or something and Twilight realizes that she's completely head over hooves for this girl

I don't know, I won't drop a fic that overuses blushes, I'm not that petty, but just think about how you use them! Make them interesting.

I don't really have much of a point other than that, just a thought that popped into my head that I didn't feel like putting on Twitter

Have a look at these cute girls

I wanna say I’m more than really frickin guilty for the overused blush thing.

Yeah, it would be a nice change of pace. Saving my blushes for a better, more romantic moment instead of just using it to show someone is embarrassed or flustered.

I guess it also becomes a little frustrating when the blush is literally the only thing you use. For me, it’d be fine for a character to blush when they’re embarrassed or something, but, like; at least use something else with it, y’know?

I honestly never thought of it that way. Thanks, Semillion. Also, your blog posts are fine the way they are, but, change doesn’t hurt either. Some people just blog on a fixed topic or something. I dunno.

Trick Question blushes! Twice! :twilightblush:

aw shucks, you're gonna make me blush :twilightblush:

Your blogs make my cheeks feel hot.

You can't spell romance without blush.

Anyone who tells you otherwise can't spell.

Being aware is sometimes enough.

Does that mean when other authors take cheek from you, it counts as sex?

Because I think a lot of us need to get tested in that case
