The Girl who Really Didn't Just Live

As you might notice from my blog title today, I'm revisiting The Girl who Didn't Just Live. Last time, the story died and was replaced by the short-lived A Hogwarts Harmony. Which was replaced by the even shorter-lived ARM (I don't think I've released even the full title for that one yet, let alone the first chapter, but it's pretty close to DOA)... and a recent comment

    I'm not afraid to die.

No, don't get me wrong, I'm not suicidal.

The thing is... this morning, I fell ill. It was probably a couple days ago when it actually started, but despite repeated measuring, I didn't have a fever. That changed last night- my temperature shot from normal to a moderate fever overnight, left me with no energy to anything when I got up.

The Girl Who... really didn't just live after all, I guess.

Pardon the twisted title up there, but I couldn't resist. I am, after all, talking about TGwDJL: The Girl who Didn't Just Live... but also died.

    Hiatus... Expired!

    Hello.

For the last while, despite a few updates to some stories (I guess TGwDJL got a rewrite released seven weeks ago...?), I've been on Author Hiatus for the last while, and now I'm finally coming back. I've restabilized myself, and I'm ready to resume writing, and actually getting stuff done once again.

She who did Far More than Just Living

    Hai.

So, we now have The Girl who Didn't Just Live Chapter 22 live. It was an absolute nightmare to rewrite, I can tell you- it took a small eternity to make sure there was actually a reason for Hailey to resurrect her mother. Not her father, though, that part ended up getting dropped from the chapter... yet it still grew by a thousand words or so.

The above appears in The Equestrian Starliner chap. 15. On its own, it's got very little implication- a little mystery. However, if combined with the information found in the alternate timeline of the same story, The First Equestrian Starliner, it's got some very powerful implications.

And of course, I'm feeling inspired at the moment, so I'm writing it. But...

The story of how magic was brought back to a world of ponies that lost it so long ago. What should it be named? The only thing I could think of was something like The Last Equestrian Starliner, though that wouldn't fit- this planet is in the (fairly early, but still) interstellar age, so they've got interplanetary craft galore, plus a few interstellar ships. Ideas?

... Interesting. When copying italicized text from Patreon, it shows in the editor as something like this:
System
Which then prints more simply as System. Interesting... (Copying from GDocs results in only one italics block, rather than one for each letter)

Echoes of Magic?
A Legend Returned?
The Historian's Surprise?

You could also go for combinations: The Legend of Magic is actually not that horrible, but may make people think it's about finding Twilight's lost library and its immortal guardian (Grail Quest expy, anyone...?).
The Historian Returned, on the other hoof, doesn't work. :trollestia:

I was trying to figure out if there's a historical equivalent of what the animal kingdom has in its cryptids, but Google wanted to tell me about 'fake news' instead. Thanks. I've gotten rather annoyed by how poorly search engines tend to work these days...

Maybe one of these will give you some idea, but I don't personally think these fit that well. But, knowing how bad I am at inventing names, any sort of inspiration may help...

Also, how did you post this five hours from now?

As in, post it in the future...?

It's distinctly possible that we're in different timezones. GMT+5 over here.

5167788
Mine's either -4 or -5; I can never remember. Interesting to know that the site doesn't seem to localize...

5169846
Yeah... Seems localized to me, but it very well could be just that I'm in the same timezone as the servers. Which, considering you first commented within around fifteen minutes of the post going up... Correction: 31 minutes, according to the timestamps.

Speaking of which, Just Like Magic of Old has actually been published... if you happen to be a patron, that is. The public first sights it around noon EST tomorrow, a Monday...

Sadly I too am poor. I do appreciate your work, however.
Is that what you named the story? Sounds interesting, and fitting, if so.

The time to reply was truly coincidental. I get enough inbox filler as-is, so this site won't actually send me emails for anything the way I set things up. So that was actually when I happened to check back in. 0.o

Speaking of which, I still need to come up with a suitable long description for its FimFic posting...
