Hiatus... Expired! · 2:20am Jul 6th, 2023
Hello.
For the last while, despite a few updates to some stories (I guess TGwDJL got a rewrite released seven weeks ago...?), I've been on Author Hiatus for the last while, and now I'm finally coming back. I've restabilized myself, and I'm ready to resume writing, and actually getting stuff done once again.
Yesterday, I posted Chapter 80 of Accidental Invasion, then talked about how I was going to avoid rewriting it and just 'make' it continue...
That probably won't actually happen. It'll get a little bit of continuation, then it'll get a fun skit at the end (possibly including another fun tie-in with Hermione's Inc), then the story will be permanently dropped. Why? I'm rereading it right now, and even just at chapter 29- not even halfway there- it's so far crazy that I know I won't be able to continue writing it. Will it get a rewrite, which would be a third rewrite on the same idea? Probably not. Instead, I'll put a bit more energy into TGwDJL and Starbound Flight, and maybe publish something more.
All of my other stories can probably be considered 'cancelled' or 'dropped' at this point. If you've been waiting on one to update, tell me about it, and I'll give it a shot... but I can't make any guarantees.
Another change I'm making. My My Little Pony fanfics, which I publish on this site... will no longer be published on my Patreon page, which also means the Early Access patron benefit will no longer apply to them. On the other hand, all the other works I have on the back burner that are entirely non-pony works (such as Careful Man, Dork Lord, and Prophetic Irony, a set of Potterverse-Only fanfictions I'm working on that are related only in that their abbreviations- CM, DL, and PI suggest very different titles) will eventually get published on Patreon, and patrons will have early access to them... but all patrons will have the same level of early access, rather than the current five different levels of early access, because I'm too lazy to keep adjusting who has access to what. Oh, and it'll be "one month" early access, not one week.
So, a short Q & A... 'short' being the operative key word.
Q: When will my next new MLP fanfic be released?
A: No idea. I technically have several of them on the back burner, but of those, TF is the only one I expect will ever get any more work done on it, and there's a reason it doesn't have even a single word of the story written. That might be because it will need the 'Dark' tag, and a very specific content warning that isn't present in FimFiction's tag options, so I'll have to provide it in the description.
I keep hoping you will get back to your Bolo story one day. Still good to see your back to writing again.

Most of the current ones are likely permanently cancelled/abandoned due to being written in present tense (or otherwise simply due to how terrible I was at writing), but rewrites and the like aren't necessarily off the table.

New Hope was the Bolo story I was referring to. I haven't found any Bolo stories that have a nice long run. Most never get more than 3 or 4 chapters then left for dead.

As I recall, A New Hope is frozen on Writer's Block... Hmm, yup. Why? Because all that's really left is a videogame-like "grinding" process, which would break down into being incredibly boring before very long at all. I'm better at overpowered characters now than I was back then (we're talking literally three years here), but I don't think I'm anywhere near good enough to continue A New Hope as it is.
That said, I could definitely take a fresh look at the 'Bolo visits post-apocalyptic Equestria' idea- and could likely rewrite it at some point in the future. Don't know when, though, I don't tend to do post-apocalyptic stuff.

I understand. I know most Bolo stories are about the biggest baddest siege units, but I only seen one on a small scout Bolo. That one only had 2 chapters and we'll it hasn't posted an update since 2007.
Understandable, and I respect your decisions in terms of your writing. I do hope we can see the concept of AI and its predecessors again someday, but for the time being I see why you made this choice, and I respect it

Yeah, I liked it too. Unfortunately... it doesn't really have a plot, and all the premise in the world won't safe a plotless story.

then just make it a slice of life story. Such stories really dont need a heavy plot. And as to Moldyshorts, well he coulda just vanished unnoticed by Dumbles due to the events that turned Haily into a goddess.

i mean it already seemed pretty slice of life for whats there, so I must say, you were doing a very good job of it for being not good wwith slice of life. Haha, your certainly better than me at writing lmao
